I remember when he came back with Mansfield after laying into the club and Jim Smith, it was like a bear pit in the East Stand that day

Yeah, that game is lost alas, unless anyone has an old VHS lying around
Think I've got some vhs tapes recorded from Central South. Goals mainly. Not been watched for years and don't have the facilities to watch now or transfer them to other media.

Would be an excellent signing for Notts, but I can’t see it

We've got about 6 'number 10s'.
Would say Ruben was very effective in that role supporting the striker, but dropping into midfield. Don't see him as one of those 'number 10s' that only drifts around the striker. He could, for example, play the role Brannagan has played in the first few matches under Bloomfield, pushing up from midfield. Should never have let him go in the summer without a replacement lined up that has seen us hobble to January.

Not saying he's the second coming, but a very effective player and, if available on a free, could complete our midfield setup for the rest of the season without breaking the bank potentially.

I'd have him back as a squad player.
Extremely talented, but like any other player, has his weak points.
The assist at Wembley was sublime.
In the Championship you need those players that an open up a defence with one pass.
You have to remember we signed him from Notts Co when they had just got promoted from non-league, so in 3 years he went from non-league, to League 1 to Championship. In those 3 years he won two promotions and helped us avoid relegation from Championship. If that is not progression I don't know what is.

Reuben has basically had 18 months away from first team football.

If it was a player that none of us had ever heard of, there’d not be anyone advocating him coming back.

One to confine to the memory bank for me. Good servant and will go down in history as a Wembley hero, but wouldn’t see him coming back as progress, now.

I mean, he didn't, because we stayed up.
It's a case of thanks for the memories but we move on.

In my opinion he was always too slow on the ball for the championship and so got caught in possession way too often which for 'teams like Oxford' is really dangerous. See krastev now.

Talented but not decisive enough for anything above league 1.
