Former Oxford United academy player Dejon Noel-Williams is set to appear as a contestant on the latest season of Love Island.

The 26-year-old signed a professional contract with the U’s in 2018 but never made a first-team appearance. Son of former Watford, Stoke City, and Burnley striker Gifton

Noel-Williams, he spent time on loan at various clubs before continuing his football career with teams such as Wealdstone, Billericay Town, Spanish side CD Guadalajara, Hemel Hempstead Town, Gloucester City, and Braintree Town.

Second OUFC link to Love island after Curtis Nelsons brother was on it while he played for us.

Well his CV of clubs he’s played for won’t set any or the birds in this absolute crap of programme of their hearts racing

Nah, loads of semi pro footballers have been on it and done well, have to watch it as the missus and little un do so I am like the forum expert on it, they always give their occupations as footballer then you look who they play for and have to laugh, but a lot of semi pro footballers seem to double up as social media influencers now.

I shall be supporting our former academy players attempt to get his end away and form a fake relationship for money on national tv, come on Dejon.

One programme I can definitely tell you I will not watch a complete waste of money

It's clear reading that that the Swindon/Arsenal games were the highlight of his career.

But he then went on to play for another 23 years after that!
Genuinely though, what a fantastic example of someone with morals in the right place and a love for the game.

And actually a really decent player

He’s doing good in the world and having fun while he does, by the look of it. So different from the likes of Elon Musk, who could solve world poverty but instead just wants to get even more for himself.

And yes I thought he was quite good, I’m sure he could have played more in the EFL if he’d focused.

He wasn’t football league standard, decent non league/semi pro standard journeyman but we should never have been playing him and it’s not surprising we fell out of the league eventually not long after making that sort of signing.

I dunno - it was Atkins that signed him, and Rix that shipped him out.......you could argue that he was part of the group that briefly arrested our decline, and we only went back into our Football League death spiral after he left.

He may not have had Football League skill levels (OK, he definitely didn't) - but he did have Football League level size, pace and power, and he could absolutely clobber a ball.

He didn’t even play conference level for a lot of his career, I think you are remembering him with rose tinted nostalgia, he was pretty bad and his physical strengths couldn’t hide the fact that he wasn’t up to it on the ball.

I know people who played against and with him at semi pro level who didn’t rate him and think they played with and against better forwards at that level, I think his strength and speed tempted us into thinking we could make a player out of him.

Don't necessarily disagree......

......but he also did score 10 goals in 22 starts + 42 sub appearances. And was voted Man of the Match on RageOnline eight times.

That's better than the likes of Lee Bradbury, Craig Davies, Manny Omoyinmi and Julian Alsop managed for us around the same time, and on a goals per minute basis about the same as Steve Basham or Andy Scott.

None of which is anything more than damning with faint praise - but he wasn't completely ineffective for us.

He was always a limited footballer for us and I never actually thought he was good enough for us when ever he played.
Fair play to him for turning his life around and having a decent non league career but the only reason he is still thought of fondly here is a penalty against Charlton and dancing around a changing room naked when we got drawn against Arsenal.

Tbf also scoring the goal against Swindon that enabled him to dance naked around the dressing room.

J-Lo was a very rough-around-the-edges beanpole. No YTS done and just a few lower league skills to his name.

But he used them to his advantage and generally did his best with them. He had a fairly accurate header on him (he scored a really well timed one against Reading in a League Cup game) and could generally cause a bit of chaos. The FL was generally a bit of a stretch for him but even in 2007-08 Mansfield thought he was worth a go back in League 2.

Plenty of people who don’t know much about the lower leagues know the name Jefferson Louis due to his longevity and love of a move to a different club. If you can’t be good, be memorable and J-Lo is certainly that.

Who is Ben Davis? Presumably not the spurs one. Is he one of ours? Not a very thai sounding name! Apologies for my ignorance.
