Seeing as we have an ex-player thread, thought it may be of interest to have an ex-manager thread.

Liam Manning - Bristol City head coach

KR - Salford City manager

Micheal Appleton - Manchester United Loan Manager (Following spells with Lincoln Blackpool and Charlton)

Pep Clotet - Trieste mamager (Serie C)

Chris Wilder - Sheffield United manager

Gary Waddock - Assistant manager at Walsall FC

Darren Patterson - No idea, seemingly moved on from the football industry.

Ramon Diaz - Manager of Corinthians in Brazil, after leaving Saudi Arabia.

Graham Rix - Recently left Fareham Town FC and possibly retired aged 66.

Ian Atkins - Scout for Wolverhampton Wanderers

Brian Talbot - Assistant Director of Football Operations at Fulham

If any of this is wrong (or any mod) can update the thread!

I would have thought Charlton would have been MApp’s last gig as a first team coach. Things didn’t work out at Blackpool before then either.

Shrewsbury look doomed so it’s a palliative care job at best. I don’t think it adds much to a CV where, outside of Oxford and Lincoln, he hasnt much to show. He takes such a long time getting teams to play his way. It took a full season with us to make the transition and similar with Lincoln (watching John Akinde in a MApp side was always an incongruous watch until he could move him on with someone could actually move). He won’t have that whatsoever with Shrewsbury.

Really hope he does well. Doesn't feel like a bad fit, and should be given time.

Would love to know what happened to Darren Patterson by the way! Maybe not management material, but was an excellent coach with the youth team by all accounts,

I adore MApp. That L2 promotion team is probably the most fun I’ve ever had at OUFC (and my time includes the 95/96 crazy promotion run).

But I don’t understand this one at all. If he wanted to go back to L2 surely he could’ve got a better offer than Shrewsbury? And if it’s truly just to the end of the season what does he have to gain?

I suppose it could be escaping potential cost-cutting at Man Utd, but even then surely he has enough in the bank to wait for a better offer. Confusing, unless that stint at Charlton has damaged his reputation in football circles far more greatly than I’d realised.

(As he is someone who spoke at length during his time with us about being aware of how important picking the right job is, I’m thoroughly perplexed)

Not sure why Chris Wilder has to get involved in confronting Plymouth players which then results in an ugly tunnel fracas.

Wilder can’t hide his disappointment after three straight defeats in a week

Oh dear! Time to get his head down and get his team up for the playoffs ala 2010

He's made some very foolish career choices. Too keen to job hop and chase the money, I suspect. Shame- he's obviously got ability. Did a great job for us, but (apart from Lincoln) flopped everywhere else.

KR has Salford City into the playoffs in League 2 with a game to play. A win and they’ll contest them.

What a manager he is still. Still generating exceptional results.

[runs off laughing, hides behind wall and peeks over to see the reaction to that comment whilst giggling]
You naughty little scamp, you know how triggered some still get when his name is mentioned 😂
