Current Player #5 Elliott Moore

Dickie was quite poor at the beginning , often bullied off the ball, weak in the tackle . Now he is playing on his favoured right side we have one hell of a player who had developed leaps (no pun intended this time) and bounds. We have to give Moore time to develop and then we might have a great partnership.
Moores favours the right side as well!!
As good as he may become, the sensible thing to do was sign a left footed CB. If you lead with your left foot its not easy to adapt to looking across the line as a right sided CB. I reckon it might be a good idea to go three at the back for a while. Mous or Long could play as the extra man.

He has played most of the last 2 seasons as the left side centre back as Moore said in his interviews when he signed.

He may have. But a RF CB would prefer to play on the right. As good as Nelson was he just couldn't do it on the left.
I have seen Moore standing too square on and letting players get in front of him. I can't prove it but I'd bet its because he is naturally a right sided player and see's things that way.

He was signed as a left sided CB as this is where he has played the past few years and likes playing.
On the basis that there are far more right footers than left, there must be an awful lot of CBs who ate right footed and play in the left

Van Dijk, Koulibaly, Ramos for a start. They’ve seemed to do OK.

Remember seeing someone on Twitter do some analysis on this that found that every right sided centre back in La Liga and the Premiership was right footed but only 30% of left sided centre backs were left footed. This means left footed centre backs are a) at a premium and b) considered unnecessary/ poor value for money by the vast majority of clubs at the top level. In short, nice if you can have the balance but not unusual not to.

You can add John Terry to the list as well.
But they are all world class defenders, there is a big difference.

I would guess that in L1 as well as the PL and La Liga, 30% of the left sided CBs are left footed as well as other Divisions.
The are nowhere near enough left footed CBs to go round so players like Moore specialise as a left sided CB

Which gives another reason why I really hope Nico Jones develops into a 1st team regular.

I think Elliot Moore will do just fine for us. He’s a young player with little experience of league 1 football so just needs a little time to ‘find his feet’. He’s got great pedigree, all the physical attributes and was captain of the team he played for in Belgium I think? He’s improving with every game, so a little bit of patience and support and I don’t think we’ll need to worry.

Moore is the next OUFC CB to follow on in a similar manner as Dunkley.... & Dickie is already a way down a similar direction too

Moore will be just fine. He's not exactly ancient and is still adjusting to L1 - but he's shown enough already to make it very likely that him and Dickie will be an excellent partnership.

Quite agree please give him time to get used to the pace of league 1 he is a great header of the ball and his confidence will grow with match time. Hopefully with his height he can be a great asset in the opponents penalty area from set pieces.

Should have shot first time in the box (edge of 6 yard box) but randomly tried to control it when he had a fantastic chance from a knocked down cross.
