EFL EFL promotion & relegation 24/25

Just a mention for some fantastic attendances at fixtures in the National League playoffs.

10,800 at Oldham's playoff qualifier against Halifax in the NL.

8,200 at Scunthorpe's playoff final against Chester in the NL North.

Feels like fans are flocking to the EFL and the NL now more than ever.
How much did Wycombe get for their L1 playoff game again?

By my reckoning, this is each of the play-off home leg attendances, ranked, down to and including Step 5:

Sunderland 46,530 - Championship
Coventry 31,293 - Championship
‐-----‐--------
Sheff Utd 26,543 - Championship
Charlton 25,722 - League One
Bristol City - 25,652 - Championship
Notts County 12,385 - League Two
-----‐---------
Oldham 10,865 - National League
Stockport 10,592 - League One
Chesterfield 10,001 - League Two
Walsall 9,585 - League Two
Orient 8,571 - League One
Wimbledon 8,501 - League Two
-----‐---------
Wycombe 6,585 - League One
Rochdale 5,560 - National League

So Wycombe comfortably relegated.

But it's actually worse than that when factoring in away support, whereby Charlton took twice as many as others. There were actually 7,357 home fans at Orient. And 7,559 at Wimbledon.

So, with 4,737 home fans at Wycombe, their own support (possibly even inflated by Charlton in the home end) was at least 35% lower than anyone else in a Football League play-off.

And they only managed 290 more home fans than Rochdale (traditionally the very smallest of FL clubs) - in what was effectively a 5th tier play-off Quarter Final.

Appalling from Wycombe Wanderers on every level.

Over 18000 Aldershot fans went to Wembley for the FA Trophy Final, beat Speneemoor 3-0. James Henry played

No official number as of yet but the York v Oldham play off semi final had alot more fans in attendance than that tinpot chair boys down the M40 achieved.

Will this be Oldhams first appearance at Wembley since it was redeveloped, must be of the longest waits currently ongoing.
Apparently, Ipswich, Blackburn, Accrington and Colchester are the only EFL teams to not have visited new Wembley.

It shows how well Ipswich have done in recent years to get back to back promotions without having to go to Wembley.
Blackburn are becoming the next Preston at being a club that floats around the Championship without much excitement.

we couldhv gone to Wembley once more if it wasn't for Appleton getting us up via the autos. Should never have had 'im as manager.

York finished 23 points ahead of Oldham and they are not in the play off final.

Another season for them.
Watch the whole game, York were totally outplayed, cant remember them having a shot at goal. Oldham really looked strong under Mike Melon, I thought Forest Rovers would get back up, but even if they beat Southend can’t see them getting past Oldham. That would deny the scummers having their big local derby 😂

York’s ground holds 8500 so I’d imagine it certainly will be higher than the Wycombe attendance.

8153 was the official attendance with Oldham being deserved winners.

I'm quite surprised York moved from Bootham crescent that held 8256 and was not far from the city centre to their new stadium that holds 8500 in an industrial estate further out from the city centre. From the outside the looks like a proper backwards step .

It isn't when the crowds have improved etc. Bootham Crescent was in a worse state than the Manor was when we left. Also redeveloping Bootham Crescent wasn't financially viable and would have been very difficult.

I think at that time too many York supporters were trying to throw themselves off that footbridge. And that was before matches!
