Question has to be asked again.
Why did we give Shearer a new contract in the summer?
Who knows? But my word, don’t we have a hell of a keeper?

Where was you a defender? He wouldn't inspire me as a defender if we were to have to use him. Again, points to the same old adage, we don't have strength in depth in terms of players kr is confident could do a job in the first 11.
Peggy, Phil or Grant ?Bring back Mitchell
On Radio Oxford they said they were trying to avoid back passes so I think your observations are right. Ten games to our next league game so hopefully that will be enough time.Noticed that when he was taking goal kicks yesterday his action had what I can only describe as "a little sideways jump" as he took the kick.
Never observed this before and am now wondering if it was to avoid taking all his weight on his left peg?
That means our next league game is sometime in March? On Radio Oxford they said they were trying to avoid back passes so I think your observations are right. Ten games to our next league game so hopefully that will be enough time.
He had that black tape/stick-on strapping on either side of his knee at kick off, so he didn't do it yesterday.I wonder if the injury happened when he over touched that back pass and had to stretch to clear it (which lead to our goal)? He also fell when he locked it earlier in the game.
While not saying that an injury to Eastwood is a good thing (it definitely isn't), I wonder if it had any effect on our performance on Saturday?
The team were told to not pass the ball back to Eastwood if possible. In turn that led to less of the 'passing it slowly sideways across the back' palaver that we often see, because it often ends up being passed back to him when we do that. The effect of that was that we moved the ball forward quicker - which gave Portsmouth less time to get organised and gave our wide players more room to operate. As a result, much of the game was played higher up the pitch than we often see, giving Brannagan (for example) the license to get closer to their goal, and for other players to be closer to Mackie - hence him getting the ball at his feet and laying it off to his team mates. Which is why we looked more dangerous and the midfield were closer to their counterparts (thus being much more likely to be able to pressure/challenge for the ball)... ???
Or is that drivel?
