Transport East Stand Car Park

Absolute chaos exiting yesterday. There is no strategy and nobody manages the car park exit. Show go signal and still not prevent pedestrians crossing so no cars exit. Lots of frustrated people and as a result an accident causing more delays.
When cars can move efficient exit slowed by that stupid yellow post mounted in the ground given limited access due to parked buses.
Increased cars turning in towards car park to cut through back roads

Does anybody at the club actually watch any of this unfold?
It is a mess and will undoubtedly act as another deterrent to people attending

I agree. The east stand car park has been hugely affected by moving the busses in there. Add that to the slapdash stop/go signs, the roadworks traffic lights and people's understandable impatience and it is a recipe for trouble. The sooner we get back into the conference and I can just drive straight out, the better. 😁

You can't see it from the bar.

Yes, this post is a real PITA.

With all the traffic lights and roadworks, at the moment I have decided the best policy is to give it half hour or so and pop to the bar for a drink and let it all calm down.

Trying to get out at the same time as everyone else just gets too heated these days.

Can't wait to not have to drive to a game.

Parked there for the first time yesterday.
Those parking in Blue Badge bays were released once the last bus left .
Seemed to work well

The decision to move the buses there is incredibly annoying. Although with the roadworks along Grenoble Road there isn’t much place else for the buses to go. It will never not be annoying every time I drive away that there is a row of cars parked on Grenoble Rd adjacent to the stadium waiting to pick people up when the buses could just go there instead though!

Oh well, hopefully not much longer left. Completely agree that yellow bollard that they can’t seem to put down is absurd! There is a simple solution that the ‘stop’ and ‘go’ signs for pedestrians and motorists could be correctly used in tandem, which was the case last season…but this season it does seem to have become a bit of a free for all!

Why can't the busses queue up on the exit from the Corporate/Officials car park in the south east corner of the ground (next to Holiday Inn) that goes straight out on to Genoble Road. I believe no one can leave this car park for 20 minutes anyway due to fans needing to walk across that car park.
It would make it easier for the fans to get on the buses instead of down that pokey road exit from East Stand car park with cars going by.
The buses would tail back behind the corner of the South & East stand back into the lane running alongside the East Stand car park but I don't see that is a problem apart from possibly blocking in the cycle rack (which can easily be moved)

Because that's for emergency vehicles

Agree, the moving of the buses has made the exit from the East Stand carpark a complete nightmare, and now this has been further compounded by the ongoing roadworks and traffic lights. It’s an accident waiting to happen, I can see a pedestrian being knocked down at some point.

It’s bad enough having to arrive at the East Stand carpark 2 hours before kickoff just to get a space but at least it was a reasonably quick getaway, but now even that’s not the case, amazingly the the match day experience is now even worse than it was before. I really do sometimes question my sanity at times as to whether it’s worth all the time wasted hassle.

Seems to me there is a huge amount of space between the back of the East Stand and the East Stand carpark, more than enough room for a row of parked buses, and any emergency vehicles that might need access. Buses could then exit via the ‘VIP’ car park.

Agree except their were two stewards standing talking when they could have been controlling the traffic coming out of both areas.

It was frustrating, and not as quick as it used to be. But it did ‘work’ last year with a collaborative ‘stop’/‘go’ sign alternating cars flowing out and pedestrians to the buses. Just seems like that system has gotten a little bit disjointed and chaotic this season so far.

(Although agree, I still don’t think it’s an appropriate place for the buses to go at all. But that’s not really the point, and not up for debate at this point - and just not worth it given how little time we hopefully have left!)

You have fans leaving North Stand and East Stand clashing in opposite directions due to the gate closed at the back of the North Stand so that area would need to be kept clear for safety reasons

Hi all.
I'm coming with the grandkids for our first game in a long while to the Derby game. We'd need to get parked at the ground, so can anyone advise me of what time we'd need to get to the Kastad to be sure of parking in either of the car parks please?
Many thanks

10 would be the best time tbf and that could be pushing it, but if you do park you can always take the grand children to the bowl plex

Thanks for that. Really helpful. Does the fence end and it's overflow car park fill up that quickly too?

It can do but I’ve arrived and walked through from Minchery farm and you still get cars coming into the car park 30 mins before the game, but if you want to be closer to the ground then I would go earlier as the on street parking has been disabled due to roadworks

Appeared that the buses were indeed moved to, and queued up in the area you suggested for yesterday’s game.

So it was possible, despite the reason for it not being used was because it was needed for emergency vehicles.

It worked so much better too didn’t it! I suspect the reason was more likely the traffic lights on the roundabout and it would’ve been chaos if the buses needed to get through the traffic there too. But surely it had to have been better for pedestrians and stewarding! Not getting my hopes up that it’s permanent 🤣

EDIT - just realised I’ve selfishly said I found it better from the perspective of a motorist getting out of the East Stand Car Park. I’m aware there are many other stakeholders who may not have found it an improved experience)
