The new E10 fuel is likely to damage and possibly render your petrol driven garden machinery inoperable.
Use 99 Octane-available at Shell & some Tesco sites.
Same goes for most Classic cars.

and classic scooters and motorcycles too ... there are additives avail, or alternatively use premier grade pump fuel which ( for now at least) is E5 grade ( BP Ultimate etc )- E10, with double the amount of Ethanol is seriously/ terminally damaging to classic two stroke engines

surprisingly there appears to be no stocks of surplus E5 grade anywhere, with, it seems, pretty much ALL roadside and supermarket fuel stations already having switched to E10 grade on their 'budget/ cheaper' petrol pumps

They've been winding down E5 for most of this year which is likely why there isn't surplus stocks as the handover has been planned well in advance.

I have bought some fuel from Stihl for my lawn mower which should solve this problem for me

E5 through It’s diminishing availability will be affecting certain cars built before 2010.
E10 although it will not cause immediate damage to internal car parts will almost certainly erode them in the longer term. I would imagine that this will end up causing older cars to be scrapped prematurely. I know the higher octane is better for engines, that’s been proved for some time and I think both mpg and smooth running is better, but of course it is at least 10% more expensive to use. E10 is less economical by around 3% because of what is included in the fuel.
Something I’ve noticed too.I used to run two Skoda Citigos one 2014 and a 2015 model. When I updated to 2017 models, the car tax went from £0 to £150 on each car. The air conditioning service on both increased by 100%.
It seems like if you go older you pay a fortune for the petrol and if you go newer you pay far more in taxes and service items.

So they bring out a new fuel that causes issues with older, perfectly functional, cars etc.
Those cars get scrapped and new ones made and that is "better for the environment" ?

Good job you can buy Ethanol Fuel Shield additives then. Be like the old "And a squirt of oil" in the two stroke days! :ROFLMAO:

I ve been using Premium grade petrol ( BP Ultimate, etc) & Castrol A747- semi-synthetic two-stroke oil in my Lambrettas & Vespas for many, many years

Cheaper unleaded (pre E10) not recommended for any two stoke engine IMO

I have used the higher octane as I feel it’s maintenance for the engine. Luckily down to one car since retirement.
On the look out for a newish car in March to replace our smaller one. Focus or Octavia Ecoboost are looking good candidates

Octavia all the way.
I would never even think about buying a Fix On Roadside Daily Ford............ :ROFLMAO:

My car is technically able to handle E10 but it's a borderline classic and I want to see what happens before I take the plunge. Expensive super unleaded for me...

Ford are excellent. Had no problems with all the Fords' I've had (Fiestas and a Puma). Yet my Volkswagen was a pain in the a**e.

I’m very sold on the Octavia. I can’t believe how much used cars have risen. The older models are now more than newer models were last year.
the 1.5TSI SEL First Edition looks a dream car for us

I’ve had sixteen Fords but not much experience of newer ones. My friend is very sold on the new Puma he bought recently

I had a Ford Escort - FVW 42Y - more of a money pit than MrsEY(MK1) and that is saying something. :ROFLMAO:
