Trump is trying again to change the birthright rule when a baby is born in the US. The Supreme Court ruled against his previous attempt in 2025.

He has got a stay on having to provide his and his companies financial info to the BBC as well in that case. His team/him are desperately trying to get it amended to only reputational damage with an amendment that is yet to be ruled on.

The BBC request for it to be chucked out has been ruled on either iirc. Trump's legal team have admitted they have no evidence it was shown in the US.

To be fair birthright citizenship is nuts. My German colleague at work who despises Trump is always keen to point out its a stupid system and sensible countries dont have it. It's only used in 33 countries worldwide

I should have been clear, it is more that he is having another go having been shutdown previously by a pretty tame Supreme Court.

No it's just what's seems eminently sensible basic security, written up in a senible article got the response "In the trash, how appropriate" i read that article earlier but due to lack of TDS. the first thing that came into my head wasnt an anti trump rant.

if i walk accross the m25 and i get run over it's my stupidity whether or not the vehicles choose to stop. Walk accross a clearly marked minefield and get blown up also my stupidity. Cross a heavily defended waterway and expect to be allowed to cross it when you have been told you wont is stupidity of those people its certainly not murder. Also to be fair i said drag back into International waters just dont allow to enter the UK. But thats not what this thread is about no matter how triggered about it you may be.

neither was the "In the trash, how appropriate" comment that i was referring to. Some people see an article about trump and are so triggered by it they make those ridiculous statements. i see an artical about Trump and may critisise, may support or may do neither (as demonstrated above). but i am prepared to at least not jump to knee jerk reactions like a football supporter either for or against Trump in an almost religious like manner.

This is the part that has me wondering. Is it standard operating procedure to just remove the VIP and leave everyone else to their fate? Surely they didn't just take the plane off if they thought there was an active threat, it was surely grounded until the situation improved. Smuggling the President out another way is sensible though.

That's standard though i would have thought. To the security services he is the number one asset for protection and if all the press pack got on the other plane then it would be obvious where the key target is. It seems like entirely sensible security policy. The plane was a military target there are risks associated with flying on this aircraft that is to be expected when flying in military planes near a warzone.

You're joking aren't you? If the plane was a target then nobody should have been on it. However I doubt this is down to Trump. It sounds like security messed up. Can you imagine the outcry if the plane had been blown up and The Whitehouse said 'all good, Trump's alive'?

The plane is a target, the plane is a military asset with military commander in chief on it. So if it was targeted without the main intended target on board that's not the worst outcome for the security services. The Whitehouse wouldn't say "all good, Trump's alive" they would release a solemn (or probably in Trumps case a justified angry tirade) message condemning the attack. But be satisfied that they protected the main target. If we're waiting until the plane is no longer a target to take off we will be waiting a long time. Iran still has significant military capacity.
