would a Director of Football stabalise, improve or have no impacts on how things currently are at Oxford United?
I think it would, could, and should improve things

Why not bring in a new manager AND DoF?It would yes. This season has gone now and we aren’t going up nor are we going down IMO. The board either get rid of Robinson and get a new man in or keep Robinson, bring a DOF in and re build the back room staff.
What ever happens, it needs them to sit down in a calm way and go through a plan of action like adults and work out the best way forward for our football club.
That would be an option too but one that would be done in the summer rather than now. Generally you bring in a DOF first then let them bring in a manager that they want to work with so if Robinson is to see the season out, I’d bring in a DOF now.Why not bring in a new manager AND DoF?
But keeping KR on now AND bringing in a DoF is going to be fraught with problems on a number of levels. Most of all that KR supposedly won't work with one (at least not one he hasn't hand-picked). He was quite clear in the FMFF the other night that he thinks his so-called "technical committee" already effectively performs the DoF role. So all I can see is loggerheads between now and May and a very much unhappier camp. KR will also see the writing on the wall and will do the square root of f-all to get the team performing. That would be an option too but one that would be done in the summer rather than now. Surely they’d bring in a whole new back room team. But that’s presumably not been their focus so far.But keeping KR on now AND bringing in a DoF is going to be fraught with problems on a number of levels. In addition, I dare say a DoF will have very little impact on selection, formation and tactics - that very much remains the remit of the coaching staff - so again, what overall difference would it make. If anything it could be dtrimental.
No point flogging a dead horse IMHO. If you;re going to bring in a DOF, you might as well get rid of the manager at the same time and be done with it![]()

Wednesday night will be interesting especially if we lose that as well…….
Leon Blackmore-Such likes this. It’s also essential that the DOF runs the recruitment process for a Head Coach, which is why I worry about the mess we are in now and hope, if KR does go, it’s an interim appointment whilst we make the first hire of a DoF.
Who is he btw? He doesn’t even have a wiki pageLeon Blackmore-Such likes this.
His dad ran the academy when I worked at the club. Got a job coaching centre of excellence kids through him and has now ended up as the third most senior coach at the entire football club.Who is he btw? He doesn’t even have a wiki page

I actually disagree. I think the staff needs a shake up and if we appoint a DOF it needs to be an external appointment to bring in fresh eyes and ideas.Yes. I think a temporary coach while a DoF is recruited (now we're in extremis under threat of collapse in on-field performance) is what's required. I seriously would make this appointment from within the club.
What it will show us is if the players are behind Robinson or not. If they are then they will come out fighting. If not then it will be a half arsed performance.Wednesday night will be interesting especially if we lose that as well…….
