Not sure tbh, I did cross country for Russell and the school but wasn’t the best, that was Barry Patterson who I could never get close to. Barry wasn’t in Russell.
Hahaha cross country running through the brook & the marsh bog , up & down the plateaus , through the woodland then round the cricket pitch.
on a freezing cold rainy day. That was Mr Polgreens department, if he caught you spitting as you was running, he'd go berserk..
Some cross country course that was.
Mind you my school before Oxford Boys, Margaret Road ,Shotover was our cross country course..
Wonder if the schools still do it like that. Probably not???

He was still running the cross country when I left in 95, always came in the top couple as well even though he seemed ancient.

I went to Peers let’s talk about that……the end
Ha! I played against them loads over the years- for Oxford School. I played against Mark Wright a few times- he was obviously good, but I would never have thought he would have gone on to play for England. Just shows what I know!

Matthew Arnold had "inter club sports" (or something like that) that were all named after classic Sportsmen...definitely Botham and Coe...can't remember any others.

It moved/merged with Oxford boys or something, I did say it was a bit tenuous.
The merger was Oxford high school for boys and Southfield school on the Southfield site at the top of Glanville road to become Oxford boys grammer school.
This then merged with the boys from Temple Cowley and Northway schools at the inception of the comprehensive school system.

I went to Oxford boys (might not even have been called that by the nineties but as it was a boys school everyone called it that and I can’t actually remember what the proper name was) at the top of Glanville Road so I am assuming that was the end product of all these mergers, Oxford schools answer to Inverness Caledonian Thistle by that time. Think they let girls in a couple of years after I left, end of the 90s, no idea what it’s called now.

I was at LW lower school west Thame. We lost every single inter house sports match except one. I scored a screamer against Wood and we drew 1-1. We were ecstatic like we'd won the FACup. My team of bullied losers, for one week only, felt 6ft tall, and all the 'well dones' bring a tear to my eye now. We were hopeless, but to a man they tried 100%. I was so proud of them.
The importance of sport.

At Peers the only houses we were interested in were the ones we could break into.🥺

I went to Riddlesdown Comprehensive School in Croydon. Anyone else? No, didn’t think so. On the plus side I did go to school with Kate Moss and we grew up on the same street.
One of you two jetted off all around the world, going to high profile parties, and the other spends their time on here talking about first cars and arguing about player formations with a bunch of misfits on a football forum...

She doesn't know what she's missing.

Do they cater for vegans at those high profile parties?
