If that's what he is looking for then he needs to get his CV into Watford ASAP. They'll get around to him eventually!

You would think Watford are stingy with pay outs to managers they have sacked, must be as they haven’t gone bankrupt.

I don’t get all this talk of everyone trying to suggest what club Des should pick to manage! I’m sure he’s bright enough and got enough about him to make up his own mind!

Above all else he’s actually got to get the job in the first place, and no one actually knows if he’s interested in either the Plymouth or Cardiff vacancies, or both.

The chances of him getting offered both jobs and having a choice to make whilst eating his corn flakes are pretty astronomical

If he did get the Cardiff job and should he get sacked in no time, I’m sure he’d be nicely rewarded for failure as all managers are
Robinson touted himself for every job, now we have fans touting Des for every job that comes up, how times change!

Des announces new agent…Yellows Forum 😂

@Northstandboy is just waiting for Des to find a club as we get a cut of his sign-on fee, so adverts can be scrapped from the forum!

Looks like Des Buckingham is edging nearer to being named manager of Cardiff City. Aaron Ramsey apparently going elsewhere.
Would have preferred him at Plymouth but either way good luck to him

It seemed at the weekend, with both Nathan Jones and Aaron Ramsey no longer having an interest in the Cardiff job, that Des was the only candidate left on the shortlist.

It’s very possible that Vincent Tan or someone else in the club’s hierarchy doesn’t fancy Des and they’re exploring other possibilities, most probably abroad.

Not sure that Cardiff would be a great fit for Des anyway.

He’s now 2-1 for Notts County. I have a feeling he might go to Plymouth. He’d be allowed time to develop his own system and would have funds too

He'd need his head testing if he chooses to go to Notts County in league 2. Yeah, they don't have bad backing, but one bad season there and he is marooned in the lower leagues for the foreseeable.

League 2 will be very competitive next year. MK Dons have given Warne plenty of resources, Ainsworth will have Gillingham somewhere near top and you'd imagine Rovers, Scum, Salford and Chesterfield will likely be in the mix.

I cannot see him making such a move, personally.

Don't agree. I think Notts County would be a very good move. I know a Notts County ST holder. Very patient owners (Danish brothers who own a football data company), decent budgets and the club would be getting 10-12,000 every home game if they were top 4 in L2. They made a weird appointment last time- a NL manager who had to give up his day job with BT! Plymouth would also be good - again, patient owners. Cardiff sounds like one to avoid

If he got Notts promoted this coming season, which is by no means a given, he would be back in league 1 which is a league that he has already achieved a promotion out of. Then, next season in league 1 Notts would be no more than a bit part in the promotion conversation, at best.

For me, Plymouth is a much better proposition for Des, and should that one not come to pass, he could keep his powder dry and see what comes up in the early part of the season when some clubs at the top end of league 1 inevitably panic when they haven't started the season as they'd hoped.

He's earned the right to not have to drop back into the basement of the English football league, imo.

But under the Notts Co scenario, he would have the benefit of 2 promotions on his CV.

From what I hear, Des could probably do with a club that isn't automatically going to be fighting at the top of the division to make him a more well rounded coach.

Agree though that Plymouth would be a more enticing proposition for him.

Notts County could well be good for him. There are managers who’ve dropped down two divisions and it has helped them no end. Ian Porterfield left Rotherham in L2 for Sheffield United in L4. He did eventually get sacked even though they got promoted twice. Double promotions seem to be happening more these days. Notts County are ambitious and of course were higher up the pyramid some time back. Under the right management they could easily do a double promotion

Plymouth set to appoint Cleverley
Cardiff set to appoint Barry-Murphy

Seems like Notts County or waiting the first sackings of next season for Des

So strange that he hasnt been snapped up. He has a promotion on his CV, a good background of success abroad and got off to a decent start in the champ. Thought a League One club would have really gone for him.

I guess it depends on reputation within the game too?

It depends if any of the clubs would make it worth his while to give up 12 months of money from us.

If you (try to) look at it dispassionately, Des has just one year's experience managing in this country (at any level) and therefore (perhaps crucially) few relationships within the game here - with players, agents, potential assistants etc. In that one year, he got a promotion by doing excellently building on the work started by another manager, then had a decent start in the Championship before completely running out of steam, showing some tactical naivety in the process.

I think we all have a high regard for him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had to start lower down than he might like (and than we might think) in order to build a reputation and those contacts. Unless of course, he decides to manage abroad again.

Very unlucky as he made the final 3 for both jobs. You’d probably consider both clubs bigger than us too.

Be interesting to see what he does next.

Surprised he’s not looked at Europe like Lee Johnson did.
