Rowett’s done alright with them. He’s added one of his own, but let’s not pretend Mark Sale is the difference between Rowett and Buckingham.I hope wherever Des goes he gets proper backing. I feel he joined us as a boyhood dream but was let down in terms of his backroom staff and had to make do with the existing people at the club after Manning had taken his team.
I'm sure Des would have done better if he'd had an established number two that he was mates with, as a lot of managers seem to - but the club couldn't have created that relationship. Also didn't he know Chris Hackett from his youth days?Rowett’s done alright with them. He’s added one of his own, but let’s not pretend Mark Sale is the difference between Rowett and Buckingham.
We all loved Des, but he’s a big boy and doesn’t need molly-cuddling.

Well, there’s obviously a reason Rowett moved so quickly to get Mark Sale - so I’m not denying that it’s very advantageous. But it’s regularly thrown in to dilute criticism of Des which I just think is needless and makes him look a bit of a princess. Nobody is coming at him, everybody remembers him fondly, so it’s just weird to me to keep playing body guard.I'm sure Des would have done better if he'd had an established number two that he was mates with, as a lot of managers seem to - but the club couldn't have created that relationship. I dunno, jet ski across the Bristol Channel?Favourite for Cardiff and Plymouth?! I don't think he'll be able to do both.
I wish Des all the luck in the world. He over achieved first season and we wil always wonder what would have happened had he had more support in terms of support. The championship is the toughest league to be in for small clubs. Rowett has taken the club to the next level and if we finish 14th or so without a struggle, I for one would be very happy.
The best news would be see the new ground getting the go ahead. I’d be delighted if Des went to Plymouth rather than Cardiff as I think they’d give home more time to achieve success, something Cardiff seem unwilling or unable to do
Even if he doesn't go there? You’re right, we’ll never know what would’ve happened had he stayed. Some may think it’s mad to say he could’ve turned it around, but there’s not a single chance in hell after the Bolton away game last season I’d have had us down to go on and get 17 points from a possible 24, finish in the playoffs, AND win them.
There’s no question the board made the right decision last December, but Des’ contribution to this club will not be forgotten.
I hope he’s a big success at Cardiff.
Someone called him an assistant on X yesterday, almost like he’d forgot that he actually was in charge of the final, said the reason we got promoted was manningWell, there’s obviously a reason Rowett moved so quickly to get Mark Sale - so I’m not denying that it’s very advantageous. That'll just leave him in Weston-super-Mare though, not sure that will help much.I dunno, jet ski across the Bristol Channel?
Nah - Minehead. Then quad bike, just in time for kick off. That'll just leave him in Weston-super-Mare though, not sure that will help much.
What, down 'caravan alley'? He will struggle to get past Cullompton.Nah - Minehead. Then quad bike, just in time for kick off.
Quad bike so that he can slip down the other side of the hedge. What, down 'caravan alley'? He will struggle to get past Cullompton.
If he was a real Oxford fan then he would use an E-Scooter as a nod to our new eco friendly stadium.Quad bike so that he can slip down the other side of the hedge.
Thought at the time and subsequently, that he did identify a number two- who then didn’t wish to join him ??I'm sure Des would have done better if he'd had an established number two that he was mates with, as a lot of managers seem to - but the club couldn't have created that relationship. Don't be silly, he's got a pilot's license.I dunno, jet ski across the Bristol Channel?
