September 6th 1972:- Can’t remember Lawman’s goal, but Booby Charlton’s still haunts me. What a strike from 30 yards. 💛💙

I couldn't believe that evening we were more than equals and were leading until the 87th minute until uncle Bob let rip.

Really glad the Manor turf was not only graced by our own great legends but graced that evening by Best, Charlton and Law, and the best bit, we were on the night better than them and the Red United fans knew it.

Oxford United Football Club.....keep spreading those four words.

Dad used to speak about that Charlton goal a lot, said he had never seen a ball hit harder.
I was sat in the Beach Road half way line and to this day I’ve never seen a strike like it. Cried like the 5 year old I was all the way home. Nevertheless, we had our revenge a few times since then. 1975 & 1986 (Sir Alex baptism) & 1988..

1983/4 Steve Biggins as well.

Denis Law scored twice at the Manor in an FA Cup tie in 1974 for Manchester City as above.
