Ex Player Alex Rodriguez Gorrin

Very strange from KR on this one, despite his clear experience in developing young players. Can’t quite work out why he’s repeatedly downplaying a player (whom we own) despite his very clear ability to change games. Baffling.

Silly comments from KR and by the day I'm getting more and more convinced he was signed by the chairman and not KR. Same as Fosu. Only difference being, KR already knew Fosu and was happy to play him. I'll be very disappointed if Mackie keeps playing ahead of Agyei, as one makes things happen and one doesn't!!

It's just a turn of phrase. If you said "Been in the Red Lion, they serve an half-decent pint in there", I'd take that as a recommendation

Out of interest , what definition does the Oxford dictionary give for 'half decent'? ;)

Love seeing certain people clamour to defend the manager when all that more and more people are doing is getting behind a young player who we want to see do well for the benefit of the team, who is starting to show that they have the ability to positively impact results.

What a very strange thing to get defensive about. Baffling.

It is.

It's equally strange at baffling that some of us seem to be so hung up on the use of the phrase 'half decent' though.

I only hope I'm not as odd as the rest of you.

Odd that KR still is of the opinion that Agyei needs developing and was going to go out on loan - just like Sykes was, until injuries intervened. Look at his contribution now. Not suggesting that would be repeated but Agyei surely (on his performances to date) deserves more game time than the minuscule amount of minutes he's been used.

Dan Agyei isnt our prolific goalscoring messiah, he is young, he's strong , he's quick, albeit still learing his trade

He brings another option or two to where weve been lacking options, And imo he should be notching up more first team minutes (maybe a few goals too?) Than he has been given so far tis season. Where until very recently he has been under utilised IMO

Enough of the nonsense and lets breakdown the facts.
  • Mackie has played 1401 league minutes this season and has scored 2 goals - minutes to goal ratio is 1 goal every 703 minutes
  • Matty Taylor has played 1254 league minutes and has scored 7 goals - minutes to goal ratio is 1 goal every 179 minutes
  • Dan Agyei has played 91 league minutes and has scored 2 goals - minutes to goal ratio is 1 goal every 46 minutes
Firstly just based on these statistics it is clear that Jamie Mackie is the worst striker on our books and should not be starting any games for us. Strikers to start up front should be either Matty Taylor or Dan Agyei end of. The stats don't lie. Dan Agyei is 22 years old and is actually older than Mark Sykes, Marcus Browne and Shandon Baptiste. Therefore Karl Robinsons argument about Dan Agyei being a young player is null and void as there are younger players in the squad who have had consistent game time. Also bear in mind that Agyei has played 3 premier league matches for Burnley and 43 League 1 matches at Coventry, Walsall and Blackpool prior to joining our club, so he's already got league 1 experience. The fundamental issue is that Karl Robinson has an allegiance to Jamie Mackie and will play him regardless of how poor his goal record is and lack of being a goal threat. I'm sorry but if either Matty Taylor of Dan Agyei had a record as poor as Jamie Mackie's then Karl Robinson wouldn't accept it, so why does he accept such a poor record from Jamie Mackie? It is now clear that Karl Robinson doesn't judge or view our strikers on equal precedent and due to his stubbornness refuses to choose the team based on ability, stats or form but does whatever he wants to do because he can as he is the manager despite everyone clearly seeing that a change in tactics needs to be applied. We're so predictable in our playing style teams don't even need to do research on how we play. Sorry to say it but if we don't get promoted then Karl Robinson is accountable and should get the sack. Not good enough.

Hello Dan, it's lunchtime and you become a right Diva when you're hungry

JOKE!

In seriousness....
Agyei has the better record and will only improve as a player. Mackie's ability is only heading in one direction and his record was never great to begin with. That said they are chalk and cheese in many respects, but maybe we need to put down (not in the veterinary sense) the chalk and go with the cheese for a bit

I would love to know what he adds in terms of off the pitch influence because it must be significant...either that or he has pictures!

So the manager gets criticized for not mentioning his goal post match then when he does make comments in the local press he gets criticized as the wording isn't satisfactory. Damned if you do damned if you don't, no doubt once Adyei starts a game you'll move on to criticize the club/manager for something else?
