It was £10m extra so mosques could hire their own private security firms, enhanced CCTV installations and premium burglar alarms. It was a publicity gesture made in embarrassing haste after the culprit was revealed yet the government wont give a penny to at-risk churches, extra hospital security and investing in street bobbies.so £10m out of a total anti-terrorism spend of £750million. Plenty spent on other sources.
At risk churches? Mind you, the CoE is worth some £15-20 billion so if there was any risk they can quite easily cover it.It was £10m extra so mosques could hire their own private security firms, enhanced CCTV installations and premium burglar alarms. The Jews too then.Best not see what Islam generates/is worth........... they can cover it.

That’s not money in the bank - that is the value that the buildings and land are worth along with things like pension funding and charity budget. It’s not a profit organisation and the overwhelming majority of value in assets cannot be turned into funding because of buildings being protected and land being a critical part of farming which the country depends on. Probably less than one percent of the churches entire estate could be sold or transitioned. At risk churches? which churches have been threatened??It was £10m extra so mosques could hire their own private security firms, enhanced CCTV installations and premium burglar alarms. There have been plenty up and down the country that have been vandalised and worse. Over 1,000 serious cases of religiously-motivated hate crimes against churches are recorded each year - 15 years ago it was less than 30. I'm also pointing out that funding is very hard to come by for places like hospitals and the streets yet Kier Starmer is willing to blindly hand over £10m extra for mosques under the guise of right wing terrorism after a Muslim member set it on fire trying to torch a car. The streets and places like hospitals have become very unsafe in recent memory yet they don't receive the protection they deserve.which churches have been threatened??
hospital security is not terrorism, neither are "street bobbies"
You should probably read 1984 by Orwell and Brave New World by Huxley then come back and edit your comment.Personally I don`t have any problem with surveillance infringing a potential terrorists individual liberties................ same as facial recognition operations...if you`ve done now`t wrong you just go about your business.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said evidence pointed to it being an "Islamist terror attack".
"We are dealing with a suspected perpetrator, who had previously drawn attention to himself through a high volume of criminal offences, radicalisation and affiliation with the Islamist scene," Dobrindt said.
In May 2025, prosecutors said he travelled via Turkey to Lebanon, with the intention of joining the Islamic State group (IS) in Syria. While in Lebanon he allegedly made contact with several individuals he believed were members of IS.
He was arrested in Lebanon in July 2025 and sentenced to three months in prison for incitement to religious and sectarian conflict.
Then in November 2025 he returned to Germany where he was arrested at Berlin Brandenburg Airport and held in pre-trial detention.
In May this year, he was sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison for "preparing a serious act of violence endangering the state". The decision was deferred for six months and he was placed under the supervision of a parole officer.
He was previously convicted of assault and robbery in 2022, and of robbing a victim of headphones in 2020.

Berlin Pride attack suspect shot and killed during police operation
Police say Abdul Ballout was shot and killed after he rushed at officers with a knife in a western borough of Berlin.www.bbc.co.uk
I`m no expert but I think he qualified to be pretty close to the top of a "watch list"....................
Sex offenders get 5 year to life supervision orders which covers an extensive range of monitoring and restrictions. All terrorists seem to get these days is referrals to prevent and other courses and these are practically voluntary anyway.Okay so he has a history of being a bad egg. But he's served his sentence. Who knows maybe he was partially under surveillance, but how much surveillance do you put him under. Do you literally follow him around like a love-sick puppy? That would be expensive and a waste of resource considering police have to pick and choose where they focus their time and money. Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you can't follow every single terror suspect around 24/7 - there just isn't enough money in the public purse. Owning a car and knife is not a criminal offence.
Oh, and it happened in Germany, so I don't think you can level the two-tier policing at our British police force.![]()

The big problem is illegal immigrants that get convicted of terror offences usually abuse the legal system to remain and then pose a threat for the rest of their lives. There isn’t many success stories of rehabilitation in this field and many convicts simply disappear a nobody knows where they are or what new identity they have assumed.
Terror offences in should have a baseline sentence of at least 10 years to life, not just as a deterrent but as a long term protection.
Churches in the UK were offered more security, but have generally turned it down as "love and openness" will win over. These are the government recorded figures for 24/25There have been plenty up and down the country that have been vandalised and worse. Over 1,000 serious cases of religiously-motivated hate crimes against churches are recorded each year - 15 years ago it was less than 30. Maybe when Charlie Methven does a podcast? When will the west wake up to the dangers of radical Islam?
And when they get released from their sentence - many of them after half served, they are free to walk the streets whether they participated in any intervention programs inside or not. So you're basically releasing someone who was a critical threat back into society who may be an even bigger threat now. You also stand more chance of being radicalised inside now because they can't fathom how to divide high-risk offenders.Wrong. If they have committed a crime that warrants a prison sentence, then they get sent to prison. If it doesn't, but their behaviour causes cause for concern then they can be referred to the Prevent program, which has successfully diverted thousands of vulnerable individuals away from radicalisation. Of course a few will slip through the cracks, but many are successful, and have helped create a safer society in general.
Illegal immigrants typically arrive by boat, armed with brand new iPhones, desginer jackets and no identity after fleeing war torn France as refugees. They are the ones that pose a substantial threat because we don't know who they are, what they've done or what their intentions are. They are most certainly not deported once their sentence has ended - the overwhelming majority are eligible for deportation but they exploit the pathetic laws and useless Home Office using free legal aid and entangle them in hoops as they receive relentless stays of execution. Claiming you are gay and that you'd be persecuted in your home country was more than enough to remain even if you had a wife and 12 kids at home.I'm guessing by 'illegal immigrants' you mean asylum seekers. If they commit a serious offence that requires a prison sentence, then they are simply deported once there prison sentence has ended.
There are plenty of space in prisons especially if there is a right wing protest where offenders can get fast-tracked into 24-40 month sentences for throwing a rock at an officers feet. This is the biggest lie ever told and new prisons could easily be built and funded but it sends out a bad message to fellow countries and communities if such a thing is mooted. Some countries actually seek funding from source countries if they hold a foreigner and that's something the UK could easily pursue rather than paying France £50m here and there to not stop the boats. Some countries issue severe sentences for extreme crimes as deterrents and don't allow their prisons to become overrun holiday camps. The UK has always been a soft touch and should adopt far tougher stances. And where do you plan to house these people? Prisons are already over-crowded. Also what defines a terror offense - Does that include 75 year old grannies sat down holding banners supporting Palestine, or people breaking into a RAF station and slapping some paint on a military aircraft?
And how much will this all cost? More prisons, more prison staff, more food and drink to keep the prisoners fed and looked after. And the crazy things is that the right-wingers that advocate the 'lock em up and throw away the key' option are the same people who want lower taxes.![]()
24 years ago a wise person said this....................
"Islamic extremism today, like Bolshevism in the past, is an armed doctrine. It is an aggressive ideology promoted by fanatical, well-armed devotees. And, like Communism, it requires an all-embracing long-term strategy to defeat it."
And John Cleese posted today...................
"I see I am being ritually insulted for my support of this man (Rupert Lowe)
The uneducated call me a racist
I am not a racist
I am a culturalist
I believe that some cultures are better than others
I prefer cultures to do not advocate stoning, pederasty,
wife beating, female genital mutilation, and beheading opponents
Call me old-fashioned..."

Put simply John Cleese, is old-fashioned and he is a racist.
Rupert Lowe was literally kicked out of Reform UK because he was too racist for Nigel's liking!
Pederasty is a sexual or romantic relationship between an adult man and an adolescent boy. I thought Islam was against homosexual relations. As for advocate stoning, pederasty, wife beating, female genital mutilation and beheading opponents - where is the evidence where Labour, Conservative or Lib Dems have advocated this?
You appear to be conflating "racism" with an ever expanding religious ideology that is incompatible with "Western life".
In Doha, Qatar, in 2007 Yusuf al-Qaradawi, one of the leading intellectuals of the Muslim Brotherhood said:
“Islam will conquer Europe without resorting to the sword or fighting. The conquest will be through da’wah and ideology”.
Gaddafi in 2006 spoke in the same way.........
"We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe - without swords, without guns, without conquests. The fifty million Muslims of Europe will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.
Of course some people might be comfortable with that, some may not, but the latter are not "racist" by default.
think it averages 5000 foreign national offenders removed a year. They are most certainly not deported once their sentence has ended - the overwhelming majority are eligible for deportation but they exploit the pathetic laws and useless Home Office using free legal aid and entangle them in hoops as they receive relentless stays of execution.
wasn't it 59% of the arrested Southampton rioters had domestic violence convictions - I'm not sure they can throw stones re wife beating...24 years ago a wise person said this....................

They were rioters, not terrorists...............wasn't it 59% of the arrested Southampton rioters had domestic violence convictions - I'm not sure they can throw stones re wife beating...
but as you were including a Cleese quote that mentioned wife beaters. I don't think that is a specific to one religion. They were rioters, not terrorists...............
Okay so what part of 'some cultures are better than others' isn't racist? Who is he to say that one culture is better than another?
Interesting that both quotes mention without swords and without guns. So basically it's going to be by peaceful means. Da'wah means to invite or call people to Islam. Basically no different to Jehovah's Witnesses setting up a stall in the market place. If you don't want to become a Muslim, it's the same as if you don't want to buy solar panelling for your house, buy some tat from a street trader or listen to a ropey rendition of Wonderwall by an up-and-coming singer - you just walk on by. It's not difficult.
One- its not culture it is religion.
Two - you can walk on by for now, when you are outnumbered, out voted and a minority things will be very different.
Glad you picked up on his unnecessary sexism there BW.Hope you've packed an overnight bag mate, the forum language police will be along shortly to arrest you.
One - Ah the good old time-dishonoured trope 'I'm not a racist because Islam is not a race/culture'
Two - It's only 6% of the UK population. We're not even close to being close to being outnumbered. Although I Christianity will probably be overtaken in the next census by people with no religious beliefs, which is the fastest growing religious belief in the UK. But that's no cause for concern, unless you are of an intolerant persuasion.
Is that all? Just goes to show how severe the problem is.think it averages 5000 foreign national offenders removed a year.
Any evidence for this? My experience is that around 60% of Foreign National Offenders (FNO's) are "voluntarily" deported under Early Return Schemes. A further 20% are deported against their will at the end of their sentence either directly from prison or via Immigration Removal Centres. Of the remaining 20%, some will be of no further interest to the Home Office, or help on Immigration Bail pending the outcome of immigration hearings. All of those on bail are subject to tagging, often including GPS tagging.the overwhelming majority are eligible for deportation but they exploit the pathetic laws and useless Home Office using free legal aid and entangle them in hoops as they receive relentless stays of execution.
Claiming you are gay and that you'd be persecuted in your home country was more than enough to remain even if you had a wife and 12 kids at home.
Around 2000 spaces across the prison estate today. However, a lot of those spaces are in Cat A prisons, Open prisons or the Women's Estate. But there are around 80,000 cases waiting to get to court. Serious Public Disorder is always fast tracked through the courts because it is the most effective way of preventing further outbreaks. There are plenty of space in prisons especially if there is a right wing protest where offenders can get fast-tracked into 24-40 month sentences for throwing a rock at an officers feet.
This is the biggest lie ever told and new prisons could easily be built and funded
There has been older people convicted of terror offences - Palestine Action supporters breaking clear laws and being jailed within guidelines. Also unemployed students vandalising humanitarian mission planes to the tune of £7m and putting them out of action so they cannot assist in the Middle East and Ukraine. Very brainless and those deserve prison because of the significant effect their foolish actions had.
