General Dan Harris - Leaving

Looking at it from a different viewpoint maybe is that there are probably a load of crap agents out there. Recommending one that the club believe might look after them fairly and in the right manner could be a responsible thing to do for a young player?
Not saying that’s the case here but could put a different spin on it if true that is.
But that was one of dan Harris’s jobs, if he left because of a difference of opinion with kr he couldn’t have been in agreement with new era.

Is it really the clubs business which agent a player signs up to? They have a right to make that decision themselves.

I know nothing about any of this so just speaking hypothetically.

Hey its Mr Credible, everyone pay attention!!!

Says who?

As with many things, it is open to a degree of interpretation as to why some progress (follow the party line) and others, equally as talented, same performance stats etc do not progress and (coincidentally) do not follow the party line 100%.
Now, this could be a good move by the Club (as a whole) by using a service that they know will do things "right" for the kids/youngsters.
However, it can then lead to a conflict of interest (perceived or otherwise) amongst those with responsibility and accountability for their departments' results.
Sometimes that can lead to departmental leads deciding they can no longer tolerate something outside of their control stopping their results from making the final step.

Ask Doris.

Do you have any remote 'evidence,' as to what you are indirectly alleging ( which is pretty serious allegation)?

There seems to be some quite close to the mark speculation on this thread (criticising both 'sides).

Dunno, do you have any detail or evidence? If you really believe this stuff you better alert the club, as it sounds like a sackable offence.

I have no idea but wouldn’t be surprised if there were some aggrieved dads of former youth players on here
Don't know if this was directed at me but completely incorrect if it was . The player I'm on about was recommended and was at least on trial with us but turned down, a month later signed for Reading and will be playing in the JPL next season !

This does happen however, we benefitted from Shandon Baptiste being shown the door from the Reading academy didn't we? I'm guessing there is a lot of judgement calls at youth level that could easily backfire.

Think Shandon injury issues were the reason we were able to get him in the first place and while Reading seem to pump out a decent amount of players from their youth we seem to be struggling massively to get them to that level . Something is going wrong somewhere .

There will always be players that don't work out at one club and shine elsewhere, and we have benefitted from several of these players in the past. At the age of 14/15/16 some players may not have fully developed physically or haven't the maturity to make the next step. That could all change in a few months or with a new environment and the next club benefits from this.

Thats not to say that there won't be issues with how some individuals work or how they make their judgements. I would guess that a nippy winger may catch the eye of Robinson over other players whilst Craig Short may see the potential in a defender where others don't. That's just human nature. It's more an issue if that's all we look out for or that others are being excluded for reasons outside of football.

Always Scotchers its never an exact science but we have a great set up but haven't produced an Oxfordshire lad ( or further afield) for a few years now where you would expect one or two coming through .

At least two of the youth players released this year have found league clubs, maybe we need to give them more of a chance? Although as you've said the squad limit restricts us.
Which ones and where?

It's nothing serious but well known in the youth setup and, as with most things, is people's perception of events.
If the Club decides they have a preferred third party and it is all clear, above board, and well reasoned that can be incredibly good for the youngsters.
If an individual has decided the same then that is less good and can lead to conflict.

Having a conflict of characters isn`t a "sackable offence". If one individual perceives that another is stopping them from achieving their goals they either talk to that individual directly and reach a solution, or they can then go higher and explain what the problem is and will either feel supported and have sorted the problem out .............or leave.

Elechi is one of the stranger players we have had recently, never really got a sniff despite us struggling at left back over his time here, yet had his contract extended a couple of times and has now gone on to a solid league one club. It will be interesting to see how it goes for him.
