10.30am start for the first CWC semi final this week

India likely to go through... but you never know with NZ

Kiwi's win the toss & unsurprisingly choose to bat first

Come on New Zealand .
I can't see it but you never know. Ferguson is back and if NZ can put a decent total on the board who knows?

with this match being played in Manchester, wonder if rain will have any effect on the result?

First 4 overs 'eventful' first two overs maidens ... including a silly & failed review by India

third over resulted in 1 (one) run ... then half way through 4th over Guptill gone for 1

4 overs in 2-1

Don't worry, they've hit the turbo now, 18-1 off 8, run rate is over 2. ..

NZ are probably pleased theyve 'only' lost one wicket in the first 10 overs in gloomy, cloudy n overcast Manchester, 27-1

... Which makes you wonder why they chose to bat. Sides are getting too preoccupied with the 'bat first and win' rubbish that has been going around recently.

If only we'd contrived to play NZ - by far the least in-form of the semi-final teams.

havent England won when batting first & lost when batting second in this CWC? - not 100% certain of that though

That's true, but leading into the tournament we always tended to chase.

NZ are coming back a little.
Williamson needs to stay in for a while.
They have seen off the opening g two bowlers who are very good.

Ball was doing a bit so you can’t really knock NZ’s start. It had to be watchful.

Whilst not motoring, they’re past 50 now and haven’t lost any more wickets, least of all Williamson. They’ll need something from him today.

100 reached in 29th over

isnt old trafford known ...in this CWC... as a high scoring pitch? If it is , NZ maybe need to start accelerating their runs per over rate ...if they can

113-2 after 20 overs.... general view is that , and there are exceptions, after 30 overs in a 50 over odi, the score posted should double after the full 50 overs ... applying that would put NZ on 226 after 50 overs , probably a bit on the low side?

They havent kicked on having recovered from a poor start.
250 is a minimum I reckon and even them India will probably get them.
