CWC 19: England V New Zealand

now thats funny .... white ball 'lost' on white sheets in front of the media centre after a Roy boundry... fielders and groundsmen collaborating in the search

its near invisible ... 3rd umpire rocks up with a briefcase of part used white balls, replacement chosen .... just as Oxenford (good name that btw), get to the pitch the lost ball 'appears'

maybe use the red ball to avoid this happening again?:sneaky:

What’s a good score on this pitch? Seems a good one so I’d want England to get 350+. Anything like 375+ and I think NZ would struggle to chase it down
early swing seems to have all but disappeared... commentators are speculating about the possibility of a big ( 380- 400+ ) score ... England on a superb runs per over rate so far.... 67-0 after 10 overs .... NZ dispensed with slips, instead loading the off field to try and stop boundarys

Can't they use ball tracking to find it? ;)

Good start.

Winning the toss was essential, mind. Put this one to bed and then focus on the semis.

Oh, and Moeen and Vince can continue their 12th man duties too. Plunkett isn’t just that good player for the middle overs but he’s in rich form when Moeen Ali isn’t.

There have been a couple of games recently (last England and India games), where the first team batting have got off to a fantastic start and after losing a wicket ot two, slowed down and didnt achieve the score that looked likely.
400 is possible but probably needs Buttler or Stokes to score a few.
Do England put Buttler in next instead of Root (they wont I reckon but it would give them a better chance of going big)?

Shame to see Roy go as he is a player who can take the game away from teams. It’s fine for Root to run singles, keep the ball ticking over and score at a run a ball as long as the player at the other end gets some boundaries

It's important to keep the runs ticking over in these middle overs without taking needless risks. Bairstow, Root and Morgan can comfortable score at 6-7 an over which will give them around 230-250 by the 38th over. Then start swinging the bat with Buttler, Stokes etc to come in and keep scoring at 10+ an over until the end.
