CWC 19 Australia v West Indies

... when I arrived in Somerset there wasnt a thread for todays match running ... started one to find in the interim this one had started .... hoping mods will lock t'other one

cut n paste from the aforementioned (and its now about 10 min behind in real time)...

Cheating convicts v the resurgent West Indies today

been travelling so missed the start... pleased to find Sandpaper squad are batting and already lost 4 wickets for 38 runs in just 8 overs

West Indies bowlers are on fire

cheat Warner gone the other cheat Smith batting currently .... one of the Oz openers retired hurt , so in reality theyve lost 5 wickets ... c'mon Windies skittle em out cheaply

Love, love, love the West Indies doing well. I think international cricket is greatly improved by having a competitive Windies team.

The only downside - England have to play them still!

That will be a very telling game

Great value that Sarge.

I’ve been disappointed with some of the venues with such low crowds. Michael Vaughan said yesterday on radio, there sell outs, but where are they ie the people. I think people have brought in bulk trying to sell at extortionate prices.
England, India, Pakistan ....and Oz (!) games are all at premium prices, gotta say I was looking at the possibility of which out of three possible dates I could make , West Indies v Bangladesh 'budget'/ cheapest tickets were ÂŁ20 ...that was the clincher for me .... and that Taunton is under 20 miles from where im working from in South Somerset too ;)

It's deeply frustrating. You see games 'sold out' but only because the tickets have been bought by touts and they're appearing on Viagogo for five times the price.

I went through the proper channels and bought mine through the CWC website via the ballot (Sri Lanka v Australia at the Oval on the 15th June for ÂŁ27 a ticket). I had to sell a few and they offered a resale service that saw my tickets for the going rate. I'd rather someone went who wanted to rather than myself profiteering from having too many.

I guess one small solace is that if touts have hoovered up all the tickets, then they've been unable to sell them on which has led to the small crowds. Hopefully a few of them have lost some money as a result.

I'd like to see the Windies have to bat first and what it will do to their bowling attack if they have a collapse. They are balls out aggressive in their bowling, but I wonder how the like of Russell will hold up as the tournament wears on and they have more overs in the legs.

They look a good team that you need to bare the brunt of the attack initially, to then score runs later. You cannot be intimidated or panic - the bad balls are there to be hit.
