FA Cup Crystal Palace vs Man City

The 6ish year old City fan who was crying his eyes out - wow. I mean, really? Try supporting Oxford, mate.

Restored my faith in the FA Cup, that. It’s still capable of proper magic, passion and tears of joy, clearly.

I don’t think any Oxford fan under 20 has had it that bad, just known promotions. Mind you I was born in 78 so the early years of my life that I can remember and when I got into football saw us go on an unprecedented run of success, just Kassam journey that he took us on showed me the other side of football.

A 6 year old kid crying because the team he loves has lost isn't anything to mock. Football is something that brings out our emotions like no other, and I'm not ashamed to say that I cried at each one of our Wembley victories and also after the defeat to Orient (who I've not forgiven despite a recent love in from some on here).

There's a lot to dislike about Man City and modern football, but don't take it out on the kids or those who love their club as much as we love ours.

There is a bit of a difference losing an fa cup especially when your club have been in the last 3 finals and won 1 of them to watching your team being relegated out of the football league though.

That would be true for an adult but a 6 year old? Not really going to rationalise it like that are they? I think we are probably being a bit harsh on a very young child.

Can you relax your white knight attitude for once?

Not every comment requires a lecture about behaviour, especially one which was an obvious joke.

Football constantly evolves.

The Spanish tippy tappy football brought success to their national team, Pep’s Man City possession based revolution took the PL by storm albeit helped by a shed load of money, and now we are seeing teams counter that and succeeding with deep block defending and rapid turnovers whilst retaining much less possession.

And doing long throws !

In defense of Scotch, he's defending a... 6 year old child...

Not quite sure how a 6 year old is meant to be in control of their emotions and have self-awareness of their club's position in the wider footballing context 🤣

It’s just his constant preaching about the moral highground on practically every thread.

That 6 year old also doesn't know what it's like to see his team fail. They have been serial winners for the whole time that boy has supported them.

To clarify, it was meant in jest.
The point I am getting at is it signifies everything that is wrong with top level football, and the overblown expectations of supporters of the top clubs.

I know a child that young can’t rationalise properly, but someone somewhere should be nurturing him to make sure he realises that losing a cup final after winning so many big games in the last few years shouldn’t be the end of the world.

To have a look at what makes football right and how children should view it, take a look at the video of a little Celtic boy interacting with the whole Young Boys
support.

Agree with this. Hopefully the bubble is bursting on the ‘possession’ based philosophy of Pep and his apprentice Arteta.

The style of football is so dull and frustrating. Somebody mentioned in an earlier post about Foden constantly cutting inside and passing 5 yards to a teammate or losing it. It’s infuriating.

I’m an older supporter but I crave the frustration of an eccentric winger who either does something brilliant or runs the ball out of play. At least it gets you out of your seat occasionally. Beat the fullback and get a bloody cross in!

Maybe we’ll even see the return of the tandem little and large striker partnership one day?

I live in hope.

I think everyone could see what you meant, apart from Scotch.

maybe have this rare soul gem playing on loop until the message gets through? ...

Incidently- well done 'Palace on yesterdays wembley final win

'Palace were my maternal grandads boyhood team ( he relocated from South London to Oxford post WW2),
he always kept an eye out for 'Palace's results, although for a number of seasons from late 60s- early 80s he'd go up to the Manor to watch the U's

Ah you suffered from Harringtonitus too!

I’m surprised there is no mention of the Henderson handball on here. VAR rational was that the play was going away from goal, but surely that was only because Henderson batted the ball away. If that had happened against us, I would have been fuming.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted that Crystal Palace won, and that the game remained eleven-a-side, but that was a pivotal point in the game.

This is what i called as Beauty of Football. It could happen to everyone, all ages, all genders with any clubs their love and supports. Every fans of course want their team always win, but in real life reality not always like that, we must accept every situations. Lessons of life. Could accept good results and could accept bad results too , but still love and supports your club.

Happy when winning, sad, crying when lost. That just because you love the club with your heart ❤️

The ball was curling away (to the Haaland's right) from goal due to the left footed defender playing it forwards and the spin on the ball. When Henderson touched it and was on the right hand side of the D.

I predict that Haaland would have had to take the ball further to the right to go around the goalie and the two defenders would be back in the box at that point (probably one going with Haaland and the other gettinh back on the line).

Personally, I think a yellow card, a freekick should have been awarded, but I think the referee/VAR should have brought play back to award that freekick

Don't think VAR can bring it back for a yellow and free kick, only if a sending off.

Personally think Haaland would have scored from there but fortunately the decision enabled Palace to win.

As an aside, other than that Henderson was fantastic yesterday.

For instances like that, it really should be able to be brought back. A freekick on the edge of the box is such a dangerous position and the failure to award a freekick was a clear and obvious mistake.

Haaland may have scored but, for me, it is less than certain
