Harry Brook has scored 24 runs in 13 balls. That's real Bazball!
And then inevitably gets himself out, as did Root.
Bazball is all well and good but there are big scores to be had out there without trying to hit runs off everything.
Don't think there's any need for it but perhaps Stokes is looking to have a bowl tonight 🤔

There’s plenty of England teams in the past who would score much more slowly than the current Bazball side and yet still would get far fewer runs (and test wins) than this lot will do…

It seems to have been a good decision by the selectors picking Bashir above Leach. Apparently they identified his height and high action as something that could cause batsmen problems.
Hopefully he will get better and better before the next Ashes in Aus.

Apparently he had to go out on loan from Somerset to Worcestershire just to get a game.

It’s a tough gig for young English spinners, so fair play to him.

England see him as having a potentially high ceiling.

I was at Worcester when Surrey’s Dan Lawrence whacked him around the ground - including 5 sixes in an over. Wasn’t too impressive in his other overs either!

It seems some players just click at Test level. I may be wrong but Michael Vaughan I think had a middling County Championship record.

He had a good T20 competition iirc.

You're not wrong - Vaughn's Test average ended up being almost five runs higher than his First Class average! Marcus Trescothick's was about three runs higher as well.

Sometimes it's just about identifying the right skill set with promising county cricketers that will translate well to the top level.

It's also not uncommon for a young spin bowler to be hammered around the park a bit early in their career whilst they work things out. Shane Warne took 1-150 in his first Test innings!

David Gower's test average was 4 runs higher than his first class average. Another big game player.

Also perhaps didn't take some county games as seriously as he might have.

His story in his autobiography of the Sunday League game when they all turned up to find it throwing it down, and both sides went and got pissed in the sponsors' tent......only for it to clear up late afternoon in time for them to fit in a 10 over slog......is absolutely priceless!

Might have to check that book out. Love the classic plane story too of course!

Very poor batting by the England openers. Poor shots with the ball moving around a bit. They should have been looking towards stumps not going for bazball. Feel sorry for Wood having to come out to face , not ideal having bowled out the Windies for under 300.

Just got back.

All in all a decent days cricket. Shame that England lost 3 wickets, albeit Wood as Nightwatchman. Thought Brathwaite, and then Holder and Da Silva batted nicely.

The Hollies was as vocal as ever once the beer had kicked in. Butchers dressed up, chasing someone dressed up as a pig. Plenty of folk looking like they were enjoying themselves. Beachballs being thrown around the stand.

Tried the Greek food at lunch this time, and actually it was very nice. Although im not sure it was worth £12.45.

The Bob Willis foundation drew a huge crowd, and plenty of people were donating, and then having a bowl. Lovely to see!!

Lovely weather, and saw some good batting, and 13 wickets.
