Just got back from Edgbaston. For T20 Cracking day, and good performance by England. The Hollies was its normal self… fantastic. All the Pakistan fans were friendly.

England win, and it was nice to see Jofra Archer back.

Yes Archer has that x- factor. If we can keep him fit, he will get better and we have a chance in the 20 twenty WC

.....and through the official ticketing site, it's just a cool $2,500. If I try the secondary market, can can the cheapest tickets for a bargain $900!

Wood and Archer products be a good partnership with Topley if necessary.
Then we have a number of spinning options ( Rachid is still excellent).
So a better looking bowling attack with an explosive batting lineup. We must have a chance

Main worry was when Jofra slipped in the outfield - the anxious look on Jos Buttler's face for a couple of seconds summed up how all England fans were feeling.

Format starts with four groups of five - two groups being played in the WI, one 50:50 in the WI:US, and Group A (including India, Pakistan & the US) is being played wholly in the US. Everyone plays everyone in each group, and the top two from each group qualify for the last eight.

Then it's two groups of four, followed by semis and the final - all of which games are being played in the WI.


It's also not an accident that India ended up in Group A and that they then scheduled three of their group games in New York - there's more than a million people in NY/NJ alone that identify as Indian, and a lot of disposable income!

Jordan was excellent in the field ( if course).
2 very expensive overs ( he seemed very angry with himself), and then had a decent 3rd over where he took a wicket.
He adds a lot, but I do wonder if he us good enough against a really good team?

Chris Jordan is a funny one. Seems to be either brilliant or awful with bowling when I see him play, without a happy balance in between. Brilliant fielder and can contribute a bit with the bat though.

I mean there's a lot of cricket being played, but it's almost all expats.
I played at a club near me for a while - I think we were 15 Indians, 3 Brits, 2 Aussies and a Saffer! And I can count the number of second generation+ Americans we played against on one hand too.

We played proper games though - mostly 35 or 40 overs with a BBQ in the middle!


It's going to be a really tough ask to get wider adoption in the US, though, because for your average American, baseball fulfills precisely the same function as cricket does for us!

Yep I think you’re right. It looks terminal.

It was a very risky decision to hold any of the tournament in the Caribbean this time of the year. The rainy season usually starts some time in June/July.

Just been reading about some of the logistics organized by the ICC in the US. Unbelievably biased in favour of India.

They get to play their first three games in New York, staying in a hotel next to the ground. Then head to Florida for their final group game (by which time they may well have qualified) before heading to the Windies for the final stages.

Contrast with Sri Lanka, who played their first game in New York, play their second game in Dallas, third game in Florida and final group game in St. Lucia. That's more than 4000 miles of travelling, just for the group stage.

And apparently the Ireland team were housed by the ICC for today's game in a hotel near the Brooklyn Bridge. Given that the "New York" ground is actually in the middle of Long Island, that's roughly equivalent to being put up in a hotel in the City of London for a game at Canterbury! They had to fight through a couple of hours of traffic to get to the ground whilst the Indian players just rolled out of bed!

ICC doing whatever they can to make sure that India don't get knocked out early (like they did last time the World Cup.....50 overs I think.....was played in the Caribbean).
