Why are so many 30-something cricketers still going to nightclubs? Haven’t they cottoned on how s**t they are? Just take up golf to pass the time like most sportspeople do (except pro golfers, of course).

Are nightclubs s**t if you are a semi famous man? I should imagine having a drink while scantily clad women throw themselves at you has its appeal.

Archer looked really frustrated even after getting the last wicket.

We do seem to have a good quartet of fast bowlers when they are all fit.
Robinson 4-11. And Archer had so much bad luck he could have had 7 or 8 instead of 3.

It is a bit of a mismatch. Pakistan had brilliant bowling conditions yesterday but couldn't finish us off. The English bowling has been excellent - both accurate and threatening, the best the Pakistan batters could do was to stay there for a while but they weren't scoring. I am going to Edgbaston, glad the tickets are for day two!

This is a desperately poor Pakistan side. Their bowling attack will not bowl anybody out in Pakistan conditions, its friendly beyond belief.

England look good with the ball, but I think we will know more about this attack when they play South Africa in the winter. That will be an excellent test.

The second dig is a big one for Emilio Gay.

Tough day all round with the bat after our last pair in the first innings were out. Think at one stage Pakistan were 16-1 off 15 overs!

Bizarre. They were very poor and presumably they are blooding youngsters for the future?

Pretty standard for them to completely overhaul things every few Tests. They really are in a mess.

Planning to enter the ballots for Ashes tickets next summer - not impressed with the 43% ticket price increase to £115 (for non-members) for next year's men's Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

Just re-found my tickets from the 3rd day of the Edgbaston Test in 1973 against the West Indies - the first Test I ever went to. The ticket price then was 85p for my Dad and 50p for me!! So works out at approximately a 9.5% p.a. increase across the last 53 years and next year.

Pakistan already 5 down for 64 and looking unlikely to get to 200 again, its nice to win but this series has probably not shown us much other than England can play English conditions better than a woeful Pakistan side.

Edit. 6 down now, can't see more than 3 days in this test unless it rains, but does anyone buy day 4 tickets in advance anymore?
