Jacks over Ahmed or Leach? Don’t understand that at all.

Overall we are rolling the dice big style. It’ll either be a masterstroke or a disaster. I like that, I think.

Really cannot see what Jacks gives with the bat that Rehan Ahmed doesn’t, because it has to be that he’s been selected on his batting ability, as his bowling numbers don’t stack up against Ahmed or Leach.

Jacks only played three innings in the CC this summer! Had one century but still averaged less than Ahmed.

I like the rest of the squad (pace, pace and more pace is the way to go in Oz), but the Jacks selection was nuts. Assume that Ahmed will be on the A tour and will be drafted in sharpish should anything happen to Bashir.

Listened to a school of thought on a podcast this morning that Jacks is more accustomed to facing high pace attack's due to his international experience and playing franchise cricket around the world. Couple that with the fact that they will want a spinner to hold an end rather than be an attacking option if they are required to bowl.

Personally I thnk that's a load of s**t! Ahmed is a better bowler and better batsmen. I actually think Joe Root's bowling is criminally underrated. I would have preferred to see Jordan Cox in as an extra batsmen instead of Jacks and let Root pick up the spare overs, maybe even Bethell if he plays.

I’ve read that they think his extra height is more likely to be useful on the pitches over there…

I have been (sort of) watching the Womens World Cup. It seems to be rapidly degenerating into a bit of a farce as the monsoon season has arrived and is just washing the games out. Surely they might have predicted this might happen? In which case it either needed to be played earlier or somewhere else!
