International News Covid-19 .....

Whatever way you look at it 'the figure £8.7 billion refers to PPE spending which has been written off' (fullfacts own words) is not a good look.

Market forces eh?

We bought loads at the peak price because folk were saying "The frontline would run out" when the actual incidents were few and far between.

Then things stabilise and you are left with tons of expensive stock sat in rented warehouses going out of date. 🤷‍♀️

We never came close to running out, a few times some wards got low on stock but the gap was always filled.

Nothing a hike in National Insurance won't clear.

7+ million people on waiting lists will take care of that.

Nothing wrong with market forces. Big problem with paying market prices for correct kit and actually buying substandard crap. 🤷‍♂️

My sister in law who was frontline ITU disagrees

Well, as has been shown by investigation, we paid certain companies vastly over market rates, despite being offered the same PPE at the same delivery by alternate companies at a lower cost, because one company was on the VIP list and the other was just an existing supplier.

Got the value of the PPE purchases that didn't meet spec?

Market forces? Are you kidding me? Kleptocracy is not “market forces”.
The truth is that in a rush to address a global pandemic that the world had taken its eye off the ball for, some emergency spending was committed to and mistakes where made. If billions had gone into the pockets of a less crony-focused set of individuals people would be more forgiving of the waste. It’s the combination of crony profit and s**t products that raises the bile.

So...

£8.7billion written off for duff PPE
£6.4 billion written off for furlough fraud.

That's about a third of the annual UK defence budget.

Or about a 15% of the annual Education Budget

Or an extra 25% on NHS staff spending

Or just over half of the cost of the net zero pathway to Carbon neutrality by 2050.

And a significant proportion of that money is now resting in the offshore accounts of the "friends of the chumocracy"

Wouldn't it be embarrassing to discover that some of this money found its way to Russian Oligarchs[emoji848]

Yep, we really can trust the Tories with our money[emoji1787]

It's all just numbers on spreadsheets kids.
It's why "they" are doing away with cold, hard cash and shifting everything, ever so slowly, to digital currency - you just need to see it.

'Just numbers' that have to be paid for through taxation. You silly boy, you've been gaslit again. Can you stop posting crap on here that could influence the hard of thinking.

Good to see The Great Torini, illusionist to the Right wing has proclaimed it all just numbers on a spreadsheet.

Remember to shout this as you run through the checkout at Sainsbury's with your weekly shop, folks....or if your energy provider come a calling as you can't pay the leccy bill...The Great Torini told it was OK.

You "go shopping"?

Feck that nice little van delivers the mundane stuff. Oh that is a purely digital transaction.

Gas & electric bill has remained remarkably stable around these parts - on a dual fuel deal with BG. Again digital transaction by DD.

I notice you don`t seem to think the "cashless" economy is on the way then?

I popped into a local pub the other evening, the sign on the bar "Card Only" - turned around and walked out to another.

It's coming and probably closer than we think.

What the actual f**k are you prattling on about?

What has this got to do with handing over large sums of cash.

Debt doesn't exist in your bizarre parallel universe, therefore the transactions themselves are ultimately meaningless and therefore it's now open season to go and take what you want from who you want because the value of that transaction was all just numbers on a spreadsheet.

Loot away kids[emoji1787]

Anyway back to numbers..... from Thursday obvs, and that's it until next Tuesday.

180 admissions in the last 7 days.
260 inpatients that have tested positive within 7 days.
4 in ITU.
Averaging 1 death per day.

Cases are, unsurprisingly, dropping because fewer folk are testing.

So it looks as though Johnson's Parliaments delays at the very start cost lives and money.

Got that for you.
Boris said to avoid contact/travel on 16th March but the law didn`t come into effect until 26th March.

Sweden never imposed a lockdown but its excess mortality in 2020 &2021 is less than that of most countries, including its neighbours Denmark & Finland so it could be argued that the lockdown(s) only created the waves.

We also have a high court case starting today regarding nursing homes and the transactions between them & hospitals.
The reality is we didn`t have a valid/reviewed test for a novel virus and when we did it was limited availability.
