Dot Counting Coventry Home Saturday March 1st (12.30pm) Ticket Thread

Attendance tracking

The Curragh Of Kildare

Level: Chris Maguire
(79 Apps, 22 Gls)
5pm update on Thursday and there are currently 649 home seats left for this one, distributed by Stand - North 71, East 84, South Upper 104, South Lower 390

By comparison we were down to 210 seats left for our last home match vs Pompey at the equivalent time, but the rate of sales has been trending slower all along for this one.

Could struggle to sell out completely but it will definitely be another 11,000+ crowd (Coventry sold out their allocation 3 days ago).

Ticket exchange tends to open when we are below 200 seats so it may be middle to end of next week before we get to that point - a good result on Saturday would no doubt help to boost sales.

The estimation of the Coventry game attendance atm actually shows that we haven't really built up a strength in depth yet = meaning we haven't got banks of non season ticket supporters waiting in the wings for match day tickets to come on/be back on sale that are snapped up in minutes in doing so.

We still have work to do to promote this club further in this county.

There are far too many casual supporters in this county that in my mind leave supporting this club to others and think by saying they follow the U's is their job done. Physically, many find other things to do. Much work is still needed to change the casual to an attending follower.

COYY'S.

Following that : I think that next season we will discover how many of these “casual” supporters we have. The initial enthusiasm of playing teams we haven’t met for a while will have dissipated and cold February Saturday afternoons in Stoke and Preston won’t be quite so appealing.
Similarly, some of the home games (like Coventry) will not regularly pull in 5 figure crowds. We’ll learn what our “core” support number really is.
Clearly, those of us who’ve been around years will still be here (and there) but some of Jericho’s casuals will drift away again.
Unless, of course, we’re up there challenging for promotion 😊

I'm not sure that we'll see a huge drop off in attendance next season. I think that over the last couple of seasons we have seen an organic growth in support that I believe is sustainable. There will of course be those who are surprised by the number of 12.30 kick offs that might look to pick and choose games rather than committing to a season ticket. But I don't get the impression that we're getting huge numbers of complete casuals who will completely drop off the radar after a season. In fact, I'd argue that there is still a great opportunity to actually market the club, season tickets and match day tickets properly which would generate enough interest to justify a temporary stand. That is perhaps more likely dependant on planning decisions and our future beyond June 2026, but we should be looking to build on what we have rather than look to lose anyone.

We have sold 400 less than we had for Pompey at this stage, with over a week still to go, I think the talk of attendances falling off might be as premature as I would be if I ever get a night with Kelly Brook.

I initially read that as Kevin Brock, but the sentiment remains!

sadly none of my granddaughters can make the early ko Cov game- partners son, although working till 11.45am, has got a ticket and will hopefully (just about) make it for kick off
This is great insight. Thanks for the comprehensive update sarge.

@Colin B and @The Curragh Of Kildare - how do you factor in this sort of additional and nuanced data to your predictive modeling ?

It's already factored in.

Our sophisticated modelling algorithms, together with a level of real life spyware that the CIA, KGB, MI6 and Mossad don't yet have, means that we know everything, about all of you, even before you know it yourself.

We don't just count dots you know!

Very good sales since this post.

Currently 455 seats left, at midnight, meaning a handful shy of 200 sold in 31 hours since @The Curragh Of Kildare posted. I think we'll sell out and expect the Ticket Exchange threshold to be crossed early in the week. Just over 60% of the available tickets are in the SSL end blocks as per usual.

For some reason, that only the ticket office knows, this one went to General Sale very late, and I think sales have been reflected by that, with a later than usual take up. Unless you're a member you cannot even look at the ticket map until General Sale is reached, never mind actually but a ticket. I'm a mere Season Ticket Holder and have only been able to look at sales for a few days. By comparison, Watford on 15 March, is already on General sale. It's this lack of consistency that many feel frustrated by.

So every game this season a sell out except for a couple of evening games?
A couple have suggested that our crowd is bottoming out and maybe will be lower next season.
I tend to disagree with this. I know a few 'casuals' who may well have come to a few games had tickets been easier to get. Crowds have been pretty good and had the 4th stand been built, I reckon that in quite a few games, we would still have sold out.

I agree. The 4th stand not happening was a missed opportunity.

I think it's important that the club make the whole ticket buying process, including communications regarding it, much simpler next season. There are a lot of potential fans out there who have no idea how and when to buy tickets on a game by game basis.

Greeting from a Cov fan in peace

Just wondering what your expectations are for Saturday.
You bought a good following to our place earlier in the season and gave us a real fight.
As you know we have changed managers since and Lampard has us fighting for the top six which if we get win on Saturday is a possibility.

I dont think it will be as easy as some of our fans think but Im hoping now that we have a fully fit squad we should get the three points.

We have sold our away allocation so will have a good noisy following and there has been a fair few City fans buying tickets in the home end due to the small allocation we have but hopefully they behave themselves .

Best of luck for the season except on Saturday as would like to see you stay up being a local team

Clean sheet for us would be a gimme

Apparently every team that comes here has loads that have bought for the home ends, been nothing to back that up at actual games yet.

there have been a few home games where away suppporters have got seats in SSL ( fence end) , most recent being the pompey game ( 4 of them) - tbf they kept quiet and respectful, not even celebrating either of pompey's goals

No one can really complain when our fans do the same at away games when we sell out. It happens all over the country.

There have certainly been pockets of away fans at several games, but not the levels that is often portrayed on social media pre-games.

Leeds will be the biggest challenge, and we should remember that whilst our ticketing and marketing team with decades of experience made the wrong call for the corresponding fixture, Leeds also screwed us over by demanding payment for all tickets regardless of how many were sold.

This could also be a game where a point or three could be crucial to our survival, so I hope that no one looks to excuse even one away fan taking the seat of a home fan. Home seats for home fans only. And I don't care how hypocritical that makes me.
