National News Cost of Living Crisis

The evidence of the "cost of living crisis" seems peculiar around these parts.

A new Roxy Ballroom opened in town recently..... £14 a head for an hours bowling or other games suggests enough folk aren`t that short of cash to make it viable.

And axe throwing venues...... we`ve got 3 of them....... maybe the yoof need the practice, £23 per hour...

Surely if its that bad for so many people??? 🤷‍♂️

...and here we go again. "some people can afford to go out occasionally, so that proves there is no cost of living crisis at all"

Wait and see if they're all still in business this time next year.

Has any money ever been spent on axe throwing that wasn’t through a corporate credit card? Even the link provided says that companies love it.

“There is no cost of living crisis - companies have plenty of money to spend!”

You are an odd fellow @Essexyellows

New businesses open employing people....... boosts the economy that some suggest is dying on its a**e.

Must be more than "some" to cover the overheads & make a profit.

Even the local Lane 7 bowling alley has had a refurb.....

Lots of building work going on both domestic & commercial.

Maybe that levelling up lark is working and you Southern folk are feeling more pain than up here? ;)

No empty boarded up units in Leicester then I presume...

Plenty of them........ the City centre is becoming a doughnut, lots of stuff going on around it and the middle becoming a void inhabited by beggars, various drunks, junkies and dossers. Decent people go to St Martins IF they go into town but Fosse Park is where most go for physical shopping.

Student flats seem to be the big boom and hotels....... one next to Tigers

It's good to know it's the rain that's stopping people spending money they no longer have due to their mortgage repayments/rent payments going through the roof. How out of touch are these people?!!! 😡😡😡

BBC News - Retailers are ramping up deals to get shoppers spending

And what is more disturbing is that by encouraging people to go out and spend (to stimulate growth and keep inflation higher for longer, which is surely not what the government want), said people can no longer afford to spend but many still will spend on easy to obtain credit and simply load themselves up with increasing amounts of debt.
