Current Player Thread Ciaron Brown

I don’t think I’ve seen such an accomplished performance from Ciaron ever. That monster defensive tackle followed by a cheeky turn, all while he’s trying to avoid a yellow (as he’d picked one up in an earlier match), and 2 scrappy but crucial goals.

Fab to see him in such good form.

Brodie Spencer has been excellent as well especially with the tackle and getting up the pitch for the 2nd goal.

Also nearly had his ankle snapped in half from a terrible challenge.

Ciaron Brown getting interviewed on the pitch by the BBC; behind him somebody invades the pitch for a selfie with a Ukrainian player, a steward trying to cut him off slips straight onto his a**e. :ROFLMAO:

After the Italy game and again tonight. Spencer may not need to settle for playing championship football again.

We saw that and kept rewinding to see it again, hilarious.

Had the pleasure of watching this with our NI son-in-law. Much celebration!

And (as noted after watching the game v Hungary) who knew CB had such a good long throw?

He took long throws during the dregs of Robinson’s tenure, from memory.

They were a bit looping from memory - are they better now?

Yes, they seem much more direct now. We were just so reliant on Vaulks during the first Championship season that nobody else got the chance to show what they could do, and now that Vaulks has gone we're only doing short throws.

I think Brown's throws are better and go consistently further than Vaulks', but if you've got him taking them then you lose his aerial presence in the box, which is probably why we stuck with Will's throws last season even though Ciaron's are arguably better

‘’He plays his club football in League One and he's a better player than that.

"He brings a lot to the team. He was our most senior player tonight and he has really grown into that."

Michal O’Neill on Ciaron Brown.

No chance he will be on the radar of a Championship club, is there? Whilst I don’t foresee anyone paying top dollar for a 28 year old defender, he’s shown how capable he is.

One of those boring as f**k sides like Bristol City or Preston Town or something signing him perhaps?

Michael O'Neill really is an intensely dislikable person...anybody else feel the same?
