International News Christa Pike

Albert Pierrepoint was a master of the art of humane execution, from the condemned cell to gallows to dead in 7 seconds was his quickest.

The average drop time from lever to dead was 0.7 seconds all calculated on weight, drop length etc.

No fuss, no chemicals just a bit of rope.

Read his autobiography amazing stories.
He saw it as a science not just a job
And his services were required all round the world
Quite scary really

She said that she would have rather faced a firing squad. Seems that would’ve been more effective.
Plain and simple hanging as done in the U.K. would be less fuss and fast. Cheaper too. No need to find a vein either.
Britain led the way there.
Before it's time would now be seen as the environmental way to execute people as all reusable and all recyclable after it's used 🤣

I also read Albert Pierrepoint’s book. Because my father ended World War II in the (British) Field Security Police, I was particularly interested in the chapter about the execution of German war criminals. Pierrepoint dealt with a number of the guards at Belsen, but there were many others as well.

I still remember watching Pierrepoint discussing his book on TV in the 1970s with the unlikely figure of Rodney Marsh. I’ve checked and the programme was Read All About It, hosted by Melvyn Bragg.

Albert Pierrepoint suffered many doubts of depression after he finished his role. Although many Nazis were hanged, many more got away with it.
Only the Americans seem capable of ballsing up an execution. I read somewhere that she wanted a different option of dying.
I can’t believe the execution was to ahead, then it wasn’t, then it was due to take place. A simple procedure taking hours and needless suffering.
No matter what anyone thinks on here, I’m sure nobody would’ve have wanted unnecessary suffering.

She asked for a firing squad.
