Watching bits of Prem stuff on the box as it's a match-less Saturday for us.

Two blatant pieces of diving - Mane for Liverpool and Bertrand for Southampton. In neither case was there even the faintest touch on them. Mane went down clutching his foot, rolling about and screaming. He was spotted and booked, Bertrand got a free kick. In both cases, I think the FA ought to be able to give retrospective bans. It's not 'making the most of contact' as there wasn't any. It is cheating, pure and simple.

Unfortunately, blatant diving gets justified by ex professionals as pundits by calling the behaviour 'professional'. Until it is considered as bad as a bad foul with equality of sanction then players will continue to take the P**s.

It's in real contrast to the moral outrage in cricket.

The FA is more interested in being seen to do the right thing than actually doing the right thing.

Why not admit that refereeing a 90 minute game and getting every decision correct is a virtual impossibility? There's enough money in football to ensure a thorough and fair appeal and review system.

Nobody wants that though.

Agree Souness actually thought it was a pen! after Mane self propelled himself, should have been off for the deliberate handball. but fair play to the ref giving the free kick most would have given it to the player who picked it up
