Sheffield Wednesday have gifted most teams atleast 4 points this season though.

We are paying a most severe price for not always 'having a proper go', being more positive and showing some aggression. It's all been very passive.

10 days ago in injury time against Watford, were out of the relegation zone. 10 days later and we're relegated. There's no doubt we have been sunk by a set of results from several clubs that have gone against form.

But we were vulnerable to it because we have essentially done pretty much the same thing every game, regardless of the opposition, regardless of the circumstances.

In our two seasons in the Championship we haven't ever really been given an almighty shellacking. Portsmouth have had two in recent games. But when they sensed an opportunity in games where they were competitive, they had a go.

Blackburn, West Brom, Portsmouth - all have been brave, even after defeats. All have won games against 'better' opposition in recent weeks (including those with something to play for) as a reward for that bravery.

By contrast, Oxford (and Leicester, by virtue of who they appointed) have hugged draws, have tried to eek out their wins against the 'on the beach' opponents or those around us. And those opponents have run out.

We simply didn't have enough of a go when it mattered - epitomised by these last two games against Derby and Wrexham when we simply had to twist.

We have lacked the tactical nous, the inspiration and yes - the bravery - to do so on too many occasions, under two different, but equally limited, managers.

Make no mistake, we're going down not through lack of quality but because of a lack of f*cking b*llocks.

Maybe. But why then were we the bookies favourites (Wednesday aside) to get relegated at the start of the season? Could they somehow sense our lack of testicles? Or did they look at the squad and realise that we were pretty short on quality?

Some people won’t like what you’re saying but how many times have we seen Oxford take the lead this season and then keep going, keep attacking, keep our foot to the floor? Almost never.

Look at Charlton when we were ahead. Look at Portsmouth when we were ahead - against ten men. Forget Rowett, Bloomfield also goes ‘Ah! We’re winning! Right, sit back, bring defenders on, go to to 5 at the back! Let’s sit deep and eke out this one!’

It’s not only counterproductive (it makes it attack vs defence, invites wave after wave of pressure, and when we counter there’s absolutely no-one up there to pass the ball to) but it’s not enjoyable to watch as a fan. I’d much rather we just kept the same shape, kept attacking, and if we concede a few, fine - we’ll also go 3-0 up sometimes like Blackburn have done tonight.

I know this is hypothetical but in my mind I can guarantee if that was us playing Sheffield United and we were 1-0 up, we’d have immediately attacked less and sat back. It’s frustrating and I don’t want to see it in League One.

It's because the gap between the top teams bar Coventry and bottom teams isn't as big as last season was.

Take Ipswich for instance 3rd in the table but have given.

They aren't the only crap team either in the play offs.

If there's one thing that's made me angry during our Championship tenure, it's our desire to sit back when we're playing well and have taken the lead. We could have won more games by more goals, I have no doubts.

That post reminds me of when Karl Robinson was doing the co commentary for Radio Oxford when we were playing MK Dons in the FA cup. Robinson kept saying we have to gamble more and attack with more players, let the defenders defend and get more players forward. Definitely miss those attacking times we had.
