I'm more confident going to Southampton under Bloomfield than going anywhere under Rowett.

I’m going to stick my neck on the line here. If we can beat Southampton, we stay up. The positive momentum that would create would be massively tangible, and it would heap even more pressure on those around us, all of which are in poorer form than us.

Where he belongs? Isn't that Stevenage, or Wycombe? He played at loads of clubs.

I liked him, he was a good player for us when he first signed and has gone on to do well as a manager in his first job, you would certainly consider him if we were both in the market at the same time. However for the amount of games he played for us at the level we were at, without a promotion, he really seems to have stuck in peoples heads. A 151 games is decent but not exactly challenging for the honours board, all at league one and nearly all within his first 2/3 seasons here so a while back now, yet he gets a level of worship that Sam Long, one club, local boy and current player with 300 games, a promotion and played for the club at a higher level can only dream of.

He did get Akinfenwa sent off though. Worth a statue just for that.

He came over well in interviews and seemed a very intelligent and nice person. I particularly liked him tweeting the bit from the Office about 'that Swindon lot' being s**t. And he's certainly a good manager who I'd be happy to see here, but from the way his teams play I'm not sure he's as cuddly as he appears.

Yeah. Watched their last three on the telly and the remaining players look absolutely shattered. In each game they've had a 20 minute spell of something approaching championship intensity but fizzled out and dead on their feet after the whistle. Encouraging. We, on the other hand, look fitter and more energetic than at any point previously. Even more encouraging. Think we might look back and see that Pompey v Blackburn draw as significant.

I think he did play more games for us than anyone else.

That being said, if he were going to be inducted into the EFL Hall of Fame, he'd surely do so wearing a Burton shirt - three years there, mostly as captain, and they got promoted twice and then survived in the Championship. Hell of an achievement for a club of their size without an oligarch at the helm......

Surprised it hasn't sold out yet as on sale to season ticket holders. Maybe the early kick-off and on a bank holiday Monday putting people off?

It will sell out but will maybe just make general sale. I was put off by the trains. Only way to avoid a rail replacement bus is to go via Guildford. Last time I came back from Pompey that way the North Downs line service was full and standing with no working toilets - not ideal when you're full of beer!

Google maps was showing over 4 1/2 hours each way from where I live, which with a 7 year old isn't great. Add in most of the journey being on Crosscountry, the aggro getting on a train at Fratton after the game, paying over £70 for the train tickets and the fact that we'd miss kick off if anything went wrong and would have to leave straight afterwards and I just couldn't make it work in my head.

This conclusion was reached after having decided not to go to Preston for similar reasons and then wishing I had done. Hoping I'm similarly regretful on Easter Monday!

Looks like I posted in the wrong thread. Cross Country are one of the worst train companies when they are running, always seem to be overcrowded and not enough carriages.

Looks like I posted in the wrong thread. Cross Country are one of the worst train companies when they are running, always seem to be overcrowded and not enough carriages.

So much so, that when travelling with the baby, I often suggest we leave an hour earlier to catch a 9 coach train to try to reduce the stress levels a bit. It's fine if it's just me and my 7 year old, he knows all the tricks to try to get a seat.
