General Can We Talk?

This is amazing
What a fantastic idea thank you

There are places such as the The Abingdon Bridge (TAB) who provide councillors to help kids with problems and anxiety
There must be others throughout Oxfordshire, they are always on the lookout for volunteers to help on reception or answer the phone .So if anyone wants to help look out for one near you.

Having worked in a school for the last 12 years of my working life, helping kids with behavioural and anxiety problems it became clear to me that there was a drastic increase amongst those with anxiety during my time there.
These children could be sent to CAMS ( Children and Adolescence Mental Health Services)
The waiting list would be around two months for these children to be seen when I started it is now two years. So these children really need help from outside the standard agencies

Have a thought to for the parents of these children too. My daughter had mental health problems in her teenage years and as parents you feel helpless, thankfully my wife and I had each other. But it never leaves you she is 40 now and I can tell by the tone of her voice on the phone if she is struggling and I still feel helpless.

As I said earlier this is a fantastic idea

Camhs, throughout the nation, is a nightmarish system. Almost a scandal how badly they do. Yet again, charities are mopping up where the govt fails

As a parent with a child with SEN and is on the CAMS rosta I hear what you are saying. More power to you for working in schools for a long part of your career. I imagine you made a difference to many kids lives.

I tried
When you come across children who can’t cope for any reason it gets to you. What I found is that they usually just wanted someone to listen to them and not judge them.
Complete change from my previous 40 years of employment where I sold office furniture
