Serious chaos at 'tesco' roundabout / Watlington rd- cowley Rd...usual 10-15 journey took 54 minutes. Fuckyou gant
I was stuck in it too, nearly as bad yesterday.
It's now my only route home after work, 27 mile journey, first 24 miles around 30 mins last 3 miles was 15 minutes now taking up to 30 mins.

Google maps is still telling me to go along Hollow way. Is it the council responsibilty to inform various bodies of the imposition of tolls.

I went to the game that way last night, and my Sat Nav picked it up and redirected me off at the Slade, and then Hollow Way, and Barns Road.

Turns out Hollow Way is in the congestion charge zone, so I've had to give that cunt Gant £5. I wasn't aware of it until a friend told me, otherwise I'd have been getting a £70 fine today. There probably were signs informing me, but I never saw them as I was too busy dodging cyclists and idiots on fucking electric scooters who were weaving all over the road.

What a fucked up road system we have now.

What really annoys me is the approach of the council which is we know better than you, we have decided so that’s it ,more traffic on the ring road so what

Do you know that's because if the congestion charge? I've been stuck in similar traffic on occasion before the congestion charge, or even the LTNs were introduced. One small incident anywhere on the ring road snarls the whole thing up
It can. It is just more likely now as traffic is funnelled onto it, and there are fewer alternatives. They are reducing the speed limit on Southern and Eastern ring road too (to 40mph).

It’s not only that. I come in from A420 and used to cut through Wootton and Boars Hill but that road is now closed at Boars Hill until mid December. So I now come down A420 and then become involved in the A34 crawl. Everyone is going to try and avoid paying this charge by finding another way. The ring road will take the brunt of this and there was a hint of this last week when I drove into Oxford via the A40 and found more traffic than normal for what was a half term week.

Eventually they will find out they have shot themselves in the foot on this one.

Early days, but this has been great for me so far. Buses have been running twice as fast into the city so the commute's much better, and the investment in new routes means I'm going to get back connections to the train station and JR that haven't existed for a decade. Might even have to consider voting Lib Dem at some point in the future.

You will be OK if you passed the camera after 6pm. It's only active from 7am-9am and 3pm-6pm, the same as the one on Maston Ferry Road.

First time offenders will receive a warning and no fine

There was a car broken down on the Eastern Ring Road around 7.20/7.30 this morning, on the way to the Mini Factory which caused it to back up a lot. Don't know how long it took to clear after I passed it.

Um watching that footage, the council leader is being very precious indeed - the dissenters were passionate but measured imho.

The lunchtime bus from town to the Blackbird last Saturday was noticeably quicker than usual. Though on the way back to the station it seemed as slow as normal.

That 'early days' is the big part though. No one will have burned trough their 100 passes yet. Even if you have to use them Monday through Friday only, you'll be out of them by mid-March (assuming no days off) so we won't know the true impact until then.

I concede that for a fair number the CC will be massively beneficial. I took a bus at the weekend through St Clements and there was very light traffic there and certainly none of the slow moving tailbacks I'd expect to see there. However, these schemes rarely see people suddenly all jump on buses, bikes, scooters and walking especially if those options aren't open to you (eg, you drive to work out of the city, your route is poorly served by public transport, the roads aren't designed for cycling or walking on). The traffic may have gone from the CC areas but it's simply moved elsewhere.

My perception is that the Eastern bypass (always slow in the evenings towards Littlemore) has a lot more traffic on it in the mornings and evenings now in both directions. That may be by design since the strategy is to have fewer cars travelling from A to B in the city itself. However, I can see this essentially making the ring road, A34 and approaches to the A40/M40 even busier.

To me, there are still better options out there than this.

Such as?

Also, remove all on-street parking from Hollow Way. It'll annoy some local businesses, sure, but its crazy that a heavily used bus route has to essentially become a single-track road with passing points because of parked cars.

Move the street parking on Between Towns Road to the other side of the street to prevent tailbacks from those continuing straight and those turning right into the retail park. The parked cars again slow traffic and buses continuing towards Iffley. Allow for a short period of loading times on the left hand side of the road for the parade of shops to have deliveries.

The Marston Ferry Road congestion charge road is insane. Just get rid of that one altogether especially when you consider there are so many schools along that stretch.

You've thought about this, that's not allowed in Local Government.

Agree with you about the on-street parking in Hollow Way - it's ridiculous that it's allowed there at all. Not noticed such a problem on Between Towns Road except right by the Iffley Road lights.

Not sure you can remove the Marston Ferry Road congestion charge point - would allow all those Headington oiks access to the sunlit uplands of North Oxford and we can't be having that

The North Oxford problem could be solved by building a wall around it.
