National News Budget Statement (With Some Capital Punishment Thrown In Too)

The notion of having two classifications of murder based on the quality of the evidence is, to me, a little nuts.
Then you're basically saying to those in the second tier that we don't really have enough evidence to be sure you did this, but we're going to lock you up for the rest of your life anyways.

That's no way to run a justice system - it has to be beyond reasonable doubt or not guilty, not beyond reasonable doubt or 'Yeah, he probably did it, guv'nor' or not guilty!

But you could separate into categories based on other criteria as they do, for example, in the US.

To get convicted of Murder One, you need to have exhibited intent to kill (not just to hurt), deliberation and premeditation and “Malice aforethought”. Otherwise it's Murder Two.

Even then, the punishment depends on what state you're in, and the views of the judge as to aggravating factors.

Its not the classification, they are all murders.

It is, subject to the 3 criteria, having a better sentencing option.

Sally Clark convicted of murder of 2 children based solely on the analysis of the deaths by the Home Office Pathologist Alan Williams, who failed to disclose relevant information about the deaths.
SiĂ´n Jenkins convicted of murder of step daughter - the Crown's pathologist conceded that evidence given at the first tribunal was inaccurate.
Raphael Rowe as part of M25 3 was convisted of murder on the basis of police informant evidence (the nature of their relationship wasn't mentioned in court), the 3 were all black which went against witness evidence saying 2 were white.
Cardiff Newsagent 3 - murder of Newsagent - based solely on unreliable evidence from one of the group that actually were involved.

Lots of examples, and that is beyond the ones involving new DNA techniques.

None of those would have qualified for the death penalty due to an element of doubt.

They weren`t arrested at the scene carrying the murder weapon.

You're the second person to post that...where did you copy this one from 🤔
Of fb some are funny and could be classed as straight and to the point some are stupid.
As you know I’m aa Tory and always will be unless something tells me this party whether it be Labour or the LibDems. I didn’t vote this time my singular protest although I think thousands upon thousands of Tory supporters felt the same and the proof is in the pudding as the old housewives saying goes, ( remember that one from my dear old Mum ).
I think what has happened has certainly opened a can of worms ( another old housewives saying apparently ).
But people are asking questions over the budget statement and quite rightly so.
My Father is 94 and very frail he owns his house his wife my stepmother who is 84 and has weeks to live are financially ok they’re not rich or affluent but can manage neither would qualify for pension credit, then there is my Father in Law who has dementia he is a council tenant he isn’t financially sound but doesn’t honour or hadn’t gone out in almost a year My wife, brother in law and sister in law have power of attorney.
My Father and step mother wouldn’t qualify for pension credit now my father in Law loses out on that benefit by around £25 a month but neither will now get a winter payment and by the looks of things that will be millions leaving around 1.5 million still qualifying.
Now every NHS employee will think Street is the messiah giving them 20% over 2 years, but what about those NHS workers elderly relatives who will now struggle as a result in part by the millions who will now not get the winter fuel payments, will they start to protest along with millions of others, what will the NHS minister feel when more will die starting this winter with the pensioners choosing whether to eat or heat.

But yes those quotes are coming from a hell of a lot of people who are quite rightly hacked if with the Labour Party in their first month of power.
They’re going to have to do a hell of a lot of positivity to get back to where they were 4 weeks ago.

Sorry for the delay in replying but was in a plane over night from Cyprus and I’ve just woken up to this typical bloody cold weather 😉

Don't answer if you don't want to but does any of your dad, stepmother and father in law get Attendance Allowance?

Also, where has it said all NHS staff will get 20%? I thought it was 22% for the Junior Doctors over 2 years, not all NHS staff, so a far, far smaller number.

My mistake yes 22% my stepmother gets the full attendance allowance as they said she had less than 6 months
Not sure about my father, the father in law

PS I will try and always answer questions and no I don’t mind you asking

If they haven't then apply for AA. Even the lesser rate is a help.
