and of course if they wanted to stay, and we accepted an offer for them...
"backed him with his injuries" - but that is also a selfish act, protecting value of asset.
 
BDK needs to have a word with himself. I imagine him and his team would have been the ones pushing for the release clause in his contract. He then agreed to this when he signed. For the most part he was bang average when he played. He then decides he needs surgery and misses the last few months of the season when his teammates needed him. Apparently he is now refusing to play. He’s not exactly been doing himself any favours and this will have put a few lower league championship teams off signing him. I know a footballers career isn’t a long one but knuckle down in league one for a few months play well and get your move in January. Teams don’t think he’s worth what he seems to think he’s worth and nobody meeting the release clause shows that.

Seriously, who says he’s refusing to play?
 
I have no idea if these stories are true, but if there is anything in this at all (BdK refusing to play), then he's being very badly advised. He's a good player (high end Championship imo), but this sort of stuff puts lots of clubs off. The All Blacks famously have a 'no dickheads' policy. No matter how talented a player is, if he's disruptive, he's off. Ramsey seems pretty switched onto the notion of the group above the individual as well.

What possible explanation remains for one of our best players (and record signing) playing no part in any pre-season?

No part at Orient (where Louie Sibley was a used substitute and Harrison Bradney was on the bench)?

He has been training. He must have a degree of fitness. He can surely contribute in some capacity? Surely Ramsey would want him to?

I'm genuinely curious as to what people think is happening here?

If someone can construct a compelling narrative without using the words 'illness', 'easing in' or 'Roosken', I'm all ears...

He's coming back from surgery. Need to be a bit careful. Ease him in...

I understand all that and don’t need your forensic analysis, thank you. I simply asked who it was said he was refusing to play.
 
I think it’s just rumours tbh. The fact remains that he’s not been available to play because he’s been babysitting Ruben Rooskens children. Far more plausible than a footballer, now coming to the realisation that he’ll be playing L1 football, who was using us as a stepping stone to bigger things, taking his ball home with him because no one has met his buy out. Definitely babysitting duties.

He has been training but has had issues with muscle tightness which the club are managing and don’t want to throw him straight in and have him pulling something.

Why would Ramsay want to use him in a league cup game when the league is all that matters this season?

If he's not in the squad for MK dons then I'll start asking questions.
 
More importantly, why put someone in to one game when still coming back from a long injury, when you can't replace him if he pulls up?

23 league games at least before we can sign anyone. If taking things easy now means we get 20 of these games out of BdK then I'd take that over appeasing a few fans now and potentially losing a critical player for a big chunk of these games.

It’s not as clear cut as ‘refusing to play’. He’s just not making himself available. He wants to leave and is pushing for a move. People are very welcome to disagree but I’m not pushing a narrative here nor an opinion.
 
I appreciate there are two or three camps on the whole BDK thing. But in the public domain we’ve had it discussed on here upon him signing that he’d be looking at Oxford as a launchpad for his career, Bloomfield suggest that he opted for surgery instead of managing the pain, The Dub cite that he has a release clause that hasn’t been met, and Ramsey say he’s not available to play because he’s helping Rooskens family (or something along those lines).

Sorry if it’s hard to believe that BDK is being managed back to full fitness. Obviously many of us aren’t as ITK as some on here, but from the outside, it looks like a player that is avoiding playing for the club.

I need to start hanging around Cowley Tesco’s a bit more to get the inside track on these things.

Are you suggesting that the muscle tightness from his 7 month injury was not present when he looked after Roosken's kids, but is present weeks later?
Maybe pushing the swing too hard caused it to flare up again...

"For the most part he was bang average when he played" - for the most part the times he played the managers played in a way that bypassed him. Like buying a Ferrari (not saying that is BDK equivalent) and only using it for the school run.
