Two in one............... 🎣

Wasn`t MB on the EU team espousing how wonderful it all was?

Yet now he wants France to take back power from the EU (particularly Germany)?

Whilst he may be inside the club trying to make changes it may highlight exactly how difficult that is..... the same kind of problems others have faced.

No bites, just stating fact.

If you want to play that game, people saying one thing whilst believing something else, perhaps you should look at Boris Johnson...

As a leaver I am too am bored with this thread. It’s been going on for too many years
Nah! Let's keep it going Peter. The idea that a discussion topic that allows so many unanswered questions to be debated should be curtailed because some might find it 'boring' is rather disturbing. People are free to scroll on past this thread if they wish. I can recall past threads being deleted because they were potentially illegal, but not because they were 'boring'. If that was a reasonable parameter this board would be extremely short of activity.

Remind me which post in French domestic politics Barnier is in the running for[emoji848]

No more than testing the water whilst showing he is a strong character who has the power to really influence the change in the EU for the collective benefit ...

He might offer a vote (and it is just on a 5 year moratorium on immigration from OUTSIDE the EU, not on leaving the EU[emoji849]) but I am sure he still thinks better in than out...and having seen what a pigs ear we continue to make of it, he's almost certainly right.

I'm not sure I have once seen anyone argue in nearly 5 years of Brexit deabte on here that the EU is perfect and no improvements are necessary[emoji848]

The difference here if course is that Barnier still does have influence unlike that wet lettuce pig fiddler we sent into bat on our behalf. What did he come back from Brussels with......a box of chox for the Mrs and f-all else.

He then went on to be part of a pathetic campaign which again cemented his credentials as Mr zero influence....and fcked off the next day without even a backward glance at the enormous clusterfck he'd left behind.

Are you OK Essex? Your recent reactions seem a little on the weird side. You invite comment, 'like' both comments you attract, then claim you've hooked both those commentators. Meanwhile, some find the whole topic 'boring' and would like it stopped.

Fine thank you, barring bursitis, sacroiliac joint disfunction and generic "old". :ROFLMAO:

Now`t wrong with debate and discussion keeps the grey matter active and we all learn from it.

Those like buttons etc are just sporting fun.

Essex is actually pretty easy to read and a common "personality" that has become quite prevalent in recent times.

Given that we are told most in the uk could do with losing a bit of weight this will go down for some as a long term benefit of Brexit.

Yep, the good old JIT system that can`t cope with bumps in the road.

"The chief issue with this production process is evidenced in its name. "Just in time" means that the success of this business strategy depends largely on precise coordination between businesses and their suppliers to ensure prompt delivery. Because there is no inventory buffer, business can suffer greatly if any one element of production is delayed."

So Brexit & Covid, alongside the knock-on consequences (staff retention, HGV training & testing, crop harvesting, supplychain labour) completely buggered it.

Not "just Brexit" though is it?

Maybe shop local, eat seasonal is better for everyone and the planet............ can`t have it both ways.

So by the same token, it is worsened by Brexit.

Thanks Greta, enjoyed your gas guzzling car comment before as well

You are getting very tiresome. No one is saying it's only Brexit but a Brexit 'with no downsides only considerable upsides' shouldn't be making matters worse.

No, you carry on! It's not bothering me, I just don't find the to and fro very interesting.

TBH this is surely a silly comment, it won't be beyond the wit of the industry to deal with supply issues in the longer term, even if it means there are smaller ranges or things cost a bit more - neither of which would necessarily be bad.

Yes it's only one person's view but that one person is the CEO of the Food and Drink federation so maybe it shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.

You see "we" can`t have it both ways.

I know my 2.5ltr truck burns petrol for fun, so my "green" life is balanced out in other ways - eg: walk to work, don`t buy cheap "throwaway" clothes, use domestic fuel wisely, grow our own etc etc.

So you can`t preach about "food shortages" when it is plastic-wrapped stuff flown halfway around the planet that is detrimental in another country.

Likewise, nobody ever suggested Brexit would be without problems, some will be short-term, others longer-term as will the benefits.

The additional spanner in the works of Covid has changed the whole landscape, again short and long term.

We`ll see.
