National News Boris Johnson - Ousted Former PM

Tbh, annoying as it is to see, I think stockpiling would be a wise course of action.

Not that some of the Twatterati would create an "out take" of an exchange in the house completely out of context..... .

Ms Truss said: "Well (Ms Thornberry) is of course talking about an animal welfare issue, and as I made very clear earlier on, we will not allow the high animal welfare standards of our pig producers to be undermined.”

Ms Thornberry countered: “There is no import ban against pork produced on farms using sow stalls because, as (Ms Truss) said, it’s an issue of animal welfare not one of food safety.

“That means, if the Government drops tariffs on US pork, British pork farmers will be undercut by cheap imports from American agricultural companies using practices that have been banned in our country for the last 21 years.

“So will the Secretary of State listen to reason and write into the law the protection of all UK farming standards against imports that don’t meet them?”

Ms Truss appeared to make a slip of the tongue when she replied: “In any trade deal we strike, we will be taking into account our high standards to make sure our farmers are undermined.”

I could dig out the Hansard link but that might be a bit factual for Twatter folk...

As a Tory Party Spokesman, you really need to lighten up, as it was clearly a slip of the tongue.

It just fuels the fire of the great unwashed on elements of social media... and for balance Ms Abbott agrees..

Although "frightening" is a bit much. There is an off button.

I hope everybody enjoys chlorinated Chicken and hormone-injected Beef as this Govt is doing its utmost to ensure there is no obstacles to it being part of a trade deal. Basically a salary or 2 apparently but that is too much but if you are a Tory donor or one of Dom's mates then a few £m here or there then there isn't a problem finding the cash....

It's alright - the Tories will look after the country with the same care they look after their own family: https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/bse-crisis-john-selywn-gummer-2122969

Is that some light at the end of the tunnel or just a fast approaching gravy train:LOL:

To be fair the City council (Labour) are doing some really good regeneration work on some areas that really needed it.

And the new Great Central redevelopment.

Even this pile of bricks....

Shame the City Mayor is a k-no-b of the highest order!

Number 10 tonight is like an episode of Eastenders. Cummings, with any luck, could be gone by the morning.

They are just stealing our money:

Johnson gave the job of Vaccine Task Force chief to Kate Bingham, wife of a Tory MP who went to school with his sister. She paid £670k for PR to a firm linked to Dominic Cummings’ father in law. I bet he hopes no-one reports this to the Anti-Corruption Champion, Dido Harding’s husband.

(Shamelessly pilfered from elsewhere)
