National News Boris Johnson - Ousted Former PM

Don’t blame you. Even as a union treasurer for many years I wouldn’t agree to paying Labour money.
Nice to see a 10% rise talked about for pensioners. Long overdue, as we are well behind the EU. Glad we left that project behind
Seriously, if you don't want Brexiteers to be called 'stupid' don't say fkg stupid things!!!!

And while we are at it, if ANYONE thinks having their human rights eroded is a good thing they are also fkg stupid!

Yeeeeess - anyone applauding an erosion of human rights protections, and greater concentration of power in the UK government of the day, has to be OK with that situation if there was a government very much not to their taste.

Should be interesting in the Commons Tomorrow. Boris Johnson might be calling for Blackford to resign. I’m sure he will relish the opportunity

The next Labour Government will surely reverse it in 2024 ?

"One of them" very much depends on what you care about and who you fight for, no?

He has proved that he is on the side of the workers and is working tirelessly to protect and/or improve their lot. A noble cause indeed, so I won't be begrudging him being paid what has employer thinks he's worth.

I can only assume you are labouring under the misapprehension that he is "one of them" from knowing the cost of everything, but the value of nothing[emoji2369]

Anyone earning over £100k a year is rich by my measure.

What is your definition?

It's the distinction of "one of them" you are wrong on.

You're trying to say he's not like the people he's representing, just because of what he earns.

The reality is that he is more "like them" than most of the MPs who earn half what he does.

Hence the fact that you know the cost, but not the value of what he does for his members.

How much does your union boss earn?

Probably too much. :)

Is there any justification for anyone earning over £100k a year if society wants to redistribute wealth and make things more equal?

The chase for those zeros on the spreadsheets doesn`t make society or people better.

Unlike pretty much bosses, his salary is decided by RMT members. Imagine having a say in how much your boss earns? Sounds fair to me.

And also he's on £87k. So you're wrong there. Again.

I'm not surprised that you won't be happy until the union leader trying to negotiate pay deals with bosses on over £500k +++++ is paid a salary of £30k. It's highly unlikely that would attract a leader of the calibre of a Mick Lynch. You like your unlevel playing fields don't you.

I said anyone earning over £100k....

Try again.

No, you specifically tried to make out that Mick Lynch was different from the people he is representing. You can try the old Bojo greased piglet act all you want, but the point you were specifically trying to make was "look, ...your "leader" earns more than you, therefore he is not one of you"

I have no particular interest in what he earns, as long as his members (who decide what he earns, as mentioned above) think they are getting value for money. If his behaviour is amoral and/or hypocritical, then yes, he does not deserve the wage and he clearly isn't one of them (and I'm not sure he'd last long if he was like the Tory version of "rich"). So if you have evidence that this is the case, I'm sure we'd all love to see it!

Hence why I said you clearly struggle with a distinction between cost and value. The reality it would seem, is that you are more than happy for rich people (such as the vast majority of the current government) to be amoral and hypocritical, so long as they bat for the right team, yes?

And that team is all about wealth creation at all and any cost and any collateral damage is acceptable as long as the £ keeps rolling in. Unfortunately, wealth creation in the hands of amoral, greedy, hypocrites simply (and demonstrably over the last 12 years) leads to greater division....You can absolutely guarantee that behind anything this government tries to pass off as "for the greater good", there will be a Tory supporting "entrepreneur" absolutely creaming it in and trousering large wads of tax payers money.

And if you really want to re-distribute wealth, maybe start from the top down with the Seven figure salaries, bonuses, then look at the profits and excessive dividends paid out to investors and shareholders first. This is where the real money is being leached out of the system and diverted away from those workers without who the wealth would not be created in the first place, not from the 100k managers.

It all sounds like yet more Tory dog whistle division antics from you with I suspect a tinge of jealousy because someone fighting to protect the rights and a better deal for common workers earns more than you ever will ;)

I assume that your comments regarding pensioners being bone idle f-----s is a generalisation or attempted wit. I would point out that the State Pension in the UK is
somewhat lower than other major industrialised nations in the EU. I retired at 70, not because I needed to work but to keep active. At present I also carry out unpaid consultancy
work a few days a month. I know plenty of pensioners who also work (some through necessity but most for something to do). It is also worth noting that interest rates in
the 70/80s were a good deal higher for mortgages. For savers now it is an absolute joke as you know. Before you ask, yes I do vote Tory and yes a Brexiteer.

Is it any different to yourself speculating on the stock market?
Surely everyone’s simply trying to improve their lot, either through risk or work.

But weirdly we define wealth creation through risk as capitalism and wealth creation through work as socialism??

This is my favourite Mick Lynch interview put-down this week, as the execrable and frankly stupid Kay Burley tries to get him to say that there will be violence on the picket lines (go to 20 seconds in). He doesn't bite and is the clear winner by a knock-out!:

Well, there is always the ever awful Piers Morgan spending 2 minutes questioning Lynch about his Facebook profile picture and trying to claim there is something sinister about it being the baddie from Thunderbirds.

Yep… really enjoy listening to a bolshie union leader and mush as a sleazy lying politician.

Neither are palatable.
