International News Black Lives Matter

We've all shared our opinion on the knee issue, seemingly endlessly over the last 6 months - at what point do you just accept its always going to be a 50/50 split in opinion, a 50/50 split between boos and applause and just stop letting it upset you...

The fact that those applauding easily drowned out the few that were booing suggests it's nothing like a 50/50 thing.

yes a handpicked smaller crowd and that projects the whole 70m plus population of the uk hmmm .

Just a bit of a moot point that no other countries appear to be doing it.

That must mean that they have A: No racial issues or are B: Racist?

Just some reverse psychology that England are "fighting racism" and anyone not supporting the gesture is racist.

Poland, Macedonia, Italy, Croatia to name a few have huge problems with racism. You could happily add in plenty of other European nations.

It was with reference to the Euro`s, England and "taking the knee"................. keep up.

It is broadly accepted that the most racist country in the world is India but there we are......

well the knee thing is about fighting racism worldwide isnt it or is it just a europe usa thing .

Didn`t see the start.... was otherwise engaged. :)

Bloody lefties which side are they on?
The left, obviously.

I missed the start as well, but still knew it happened, have you not seen the outrage on the Guardian website? 😂

(joke BTW, I don't read The Guardian)

Judging by the voting on the BBC website during the england match thread the taking of the knee is at best not liked by a ratio of 2:1. Croatia didn't take part in the gesture. Hope they think again about doing the political and divisive gesture. And indoor the BBC highlighting it.

The racism came first (as you can't oppose something if it doesn't exist) so racism is devisive. It pretty simply if you think about it.

First, how do you know the 22,000 at Wembley weren't entirely representative of the UK population? Second, if they weren't how do you reckon the crowd was 'handpicked' to favour those in favour of kneeling? Occasionally it would be nice if you could flesh out some of your comments. Might promote debate.

The problem is there is division across many lines. Race, religion, wealth, class, gender etc the list is long.

I`ll say it again that the UK is one of the most diverse and accepting countries in the world.

To oppose racism is a good thing, to promote that message is a good thing.

How that message is promoted needs a measure of caution.

If caution & thought isn`t applied (BLM & taking the knee) the very people who need to receive the message can rail against it.

Why not both sides linking arms on the centre circle in unity and strength? Displaying they are one, unified team irrespective of any divisive lines?

Well it would be interesting to see what those who are determined not to see what the message is make of it I guess...
