Over the last 24 games, we’re 27th best in England (making the lazy assumption that the 20 in the Premier League this season are the top 20 - perhaps Southampton aren’t even in the top 30 at the moment, so we might be 26th).

We won’t stunt development, because our centre backs have the platform to impress with GR’s style of play.

We’d give Leicester a good game right now.

Will he get in Leicester’s team? Not sure.

Would he get in Chelsea’s team? Not likely, yet.

Logic suggests that while not a forgone conclusion by any means, there’s got to be a chance of him being here next season.

no disrespect intended. We will have a lot of work to do and will be desperate to get back up. Depending on who we end up with in charge, it may be another case of us signing established pros that will block the route for some of the youngsters.

There’s already a crop that are too good for league 1, so we will need to make space for them or find a good club that we hope won’t be a rival at the top end.

However, If we start the season with the likes of Ayew and Decordova-Reid I’d advise you all to bet on yourselves finishing above us
What are the chances of you keeping the 4 or centre backs that are ahead of Nelson next season?

I always thought looking back on our centre half’s, Luke Foster was an absolute class act and way too good for conference level, we’ve had many over the years but Nelson is by far the finished product, absolute class act and a natural, be amazing if we could somehow get him but doubt it.

Luke Foster being mentioned in the same sentence as Ben Nelson was not on my bingo card!

Bet Nelson doesn’t get a mental case pregnant who goes on to cause a national scandal though, Foster has him beaten in that respect.

I remember the fuss we all made when Wilder replaced Foster with Jake Wright though, how wrong we were then, Wright was far superior as their respective careers went on to prove.

I reckon he could play for England if he carries on developing/improving. Makes the game look easy.

Crazy really just how much we’ve been spoilt as a fanbase when it comes to the centre halves we’ve been able to watch since rejoining the EFL.

We’re lucky to witness the likes of Nelson, Duberry, Foster and Allardyce pulling on a yellow shirt.
I don't think that's fair on Curtis Nelson!!🙄

Well the fans may have very different views to our the incompetent people running our club.

The logical move for us would be for us to have Nelson, Okoli and Souttar as the options next season. But we’re going to struggle to get rid of vestergaarde, coady and faes.

Our fans worries are that any of those 3 stick around and get selected next season.

Your owners would be insane to sell him for £20m. If that’s Brighton they’d be brave enough to hold him, give him minutes and get upwards of £60m for him in a year or two. He’s an England prospect and a good one at that - his value will sky-rocket if he kicks on.

I think playing for Leicester would be great for him and I don’t think he’d do your promotion chances any harm whatsoever. If anything it would bring a freshness to what looks a very stale squad. You’ve got a couple of other youngsters that I gather are emerging too and could be involved more now you’ve come down. I’d love that as a fan and would help me offset the disappointment of relegation.

Might have to sell the youngsters because of the financial rules, they are in the bad books because of that sleight of hand they pulled to get away with it last year.

You say that... But Luke Foster himself wasn't exactly perfect. He was recently sent to prison for running a cannabis factory - https://www.independent.co.uk/news/rebekah-vardy-partner-luke-foster-jailed-cannabis-b2533881.html

Luke and I exchanged a call some years back. He sought investment for a sort of health club/Vegan cafe project up north. It was a complete non-starter and instead much of the call was dedicated to explaining to me how unpleasant Rebekah Vardy was. It was all very interesting, although the call did make me 20 minutes late to the pub quiz in favour of getting the latest gossip.

You really should keep Nelson if you can.
Alternatively there is a club that he is playing for who would love to take him on a seasons loan!

What are Leicester's plans next season and presumably they will somehow try and go back up next season.

What is the view on likely punishments for breaching the sustainability rules?

One of the best loan players I can remember us having, all despite missing a third of the season. Should have a great career if he fulfils his potential.

Full credit to him for choosing us when I’m sure there were other safer choices for an easier ride. Ed did really well to get him. He will have got so much from this season and if some weird circumstances present that allow us to get him back one day, I wouldn’t think twice. Big void to fill.

Sadly think he'll be well out of our price range and Leicester would be crazy to sell him.

Credit to the club’s management for keeping him on loan during his injury. I’m pretty sure it would’ve been easy to terminate his loan then. It was a gamble I wasn’t sure was worth taking at the time, but it paid off massively!
I know I’m a dreamer, and it’s a bit cheeky, but I’d love for Leicester to hit a financial meltdown. Then OUFC could realize the player’s worth and snap him up for a decent fee under the noses of the big boys.

He's a real top level prospect - can't say I ever agreed with the hyperbole around Beadle as an England prospect, he may be young but he has a long way to go to be anywhere near that level. Nelson, however, looks to have all the potential in the world.

Early in his loan I thought his one weakness was when he was turned and facing his own goal, where he seemed to be in two minds as to what to do. However, when he returned from injury he seemed to have worked that out and the errors disappeared. A good football brain at work.

Upwards of £60m is a crazy amount, especially when you think Botman cost £35m and Guehi is being linked with a £40m transfer

Well, depends on the examples.

Nelson looks like he could follow Maguire’s trajectory who Leicester sold for £80m. Forget the mindlessness of man united’s spending - players are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. Nelson already looks better on the ball! Maguire had a couple of premier league seasons by then, of course.

Guehi had bids knocking on for £70m last season and is now down to his final year and not wanting to renew. I suspect they will get £50m for him this summer without much problem but his true value is a lot more, and he isn’t the physical profile that many clubs look for. Nelson is. Botman isn’t really a like for like comparison having come from a financially weak league overseas.

I’m not suggesting Nelson is anywhere near a £60m player now. But there is always a premium on home grown talent, particularly defenders it seems, and if he can go and have a good season in the premier league in one or both of the next two years, I think a big hitter will come flying in for him for big money. The fact Chelsea are circling with £20m having only played a handful of senior games suggests it’s not that crazy to imagine.
