Lovely interview. He speaks exactly as he spoke when he was our captain in some really dark times - full of dogged, stoic professionalism. Such a shame we didn’t have more like him in the 05/06 season.

He speaks such calm, honest sense about all the things that were wrong in the club at that time - without balling anyone out, without throwing anyone under the bus and whilst still showing the utmost respect to OUFC, Jim Smith, and others…
 
You can certainly see why he was captain for us and presumably for others too. If his talent had matched his determinism, Hargreaves would have been a PL player.

I've heard interviews with a certain Andy Burgess about his time in football including his seasons with us and it's chalk and cheese compared to listening to Hargreaves; critical of others, negative, so many 'nearly man' stories.

We needed more Chris Hargreaves's and fewer Andy Burgess's.
