General Atmosphere

If someone has paid money to watch a football match, they are hardly going to want a flag waved in front of them during a match blocking their view.
I understand this concern but would just mention that
Flags on the back row wouldn't impede anyone's view
Flags any further down being waved occasionally during award of free kicks/ corners/ after goals wouldn't have any real effect on fans enjoyment.

@WuTang if the club could communicate where these goal line tech cameras are or move them I think a solution could be reached.

Anyone who saw the cup semi final between Palace and Villa knows just how much of difference atmosphere can make.

We are a bit up against it at Grenoble Road but if we all pull together it can be good there.

With having one of the smaller budgets we need every little advantage we can get.

Just curious, why is that? They were obviously in the original plan I’m guessing. Then to not utilise them seems odd. Did they just get carried away?
In the original plan I believe that the empty space at the back of the East Stand was supposed to be for boxes, as a supporter's club was also meant to be behind there. So, I think, it isn't just as simple as bolting extra seats up there, as they wouldn't have been factored in with the access routes as they are, they'd have been accessed by a different set of stairs, so we would need additional clearances, possibly additional fan infrastructure, to make it possible to use that space.

Palace in England whilst the game is in play.

Dresden, one of my favourites (they play in yellow so fun to compare) whilst the game is in play.

The majority of the stadium is available if you do not want a flag waved in front of you, I think we should push for a small section of the stadium where people are happy WITH flags waving in front of them during the game. There are enough fans who want to create an atmosphere above and beyond watching the match. I was always one of them, my priority was always giving something to the players to help them win, I'd happily sacrifice my view of the action if it helps support them.

It's not for everyone, but that's why you don't have flags waving at the front of every stand.

Edit: I think it's really important to push this now ahead of a new stadium. They could sell tickets as "restricted view" in a section at the new ground knowing flags will be waved during the 90 minutes. It would be absolutely superb, add to the atmosphere and almost certainly help the players. I feel this is heading towards another pivotal moment where the club can get it right and create something epic, or balls it up like last time.

This is the key point. Everyone knows where the Holmesdale Fanatics sit/stand so if you want some of that action you go there and if you dont you go somewhere else. It's self-policing.

100%

This is why the potential of a new stadium has come at a great time for the group.

Clean slate, the ability to create a singing section without disrupting those with season tickets already in that section. As well as being able to wave flags during games knowing it’s not going to frustrate other fans in that area. We don’t want to be that group like a few clubs have where a lot of their fans resent them.

The new ground will give the fanbase a chance to create a good atmosphere, especially with improved acoustics on the Kassam.

Fair enough. Just a shame it’s wasted space.

I think that's fair. You don't want to p**s others off, no matter how well intended it is. But you're bringing others with you and the atmosphere in the last few games was incredible.

Keep this up and we'll need to massively increase the singing section in the new grounds!

Well having watched the full match replay the atmosphere and the singing were fantastic. I could barely hear Nathan and Jerome had they left the door open? Well done everybody! Hearing that palace song made me wonder wether we could use the classic I love you baby by Sinatra was it? Its a very catchy and singable tune

“Dada
Dada
Dada da da da
Dada
Dada
Dada da da da
Dada
Dada
Dada da da da
Dada dada Ohhhhhhhhh…….

We love you Oxford and if it’s quite alright
We need you Oxford to warm those lonely nights
We love you Oxford……trust in us when we say….”

It was going to be a big bar, with separated more exclusive seats behind the wall (kind of like a massive non-private box). From memory the stairs were never put it, there is just a big hole in the concrete with a 20' drop to the void below. The work in the areas behind that area would likely not be worth it for the short timescale it would be in use.
Not sure if it would be easy to cut entranceways into the front wall - assume there is steel reinforcement in the concrete.

edit: wrong about the stairs, just spotted this on photo I took when was being constructed - who knows what state they are in though.

Pretty much as pictured still. I think enough time has passed that I can admit we snuck into the back section and roof of the east stand during ultras projects in the concourse many years ago. OU09 is spray painted on a wall back there, there's still construction equipment like they scarpered mid-job. There's another staircase at the back in the centre, the concourses are enormous, what could have been...

I had a peek through at the size of the rooms back there, but haven't seen much more. Very much a Firoka thing to just stop work and seal it up.

Watching the Charlton v Wycombe makes me realise how lucky we are to have the YD boys.

Drum is just a constant drone. Banging away even when there's no sinding. Dreadful.

Our lads do it a lot better. Thank god
I sent an email to the club today basically telling them how important these guys are.
I have so much love for them because it’s transformed things beyond recognition.
Our fans didn’t just turn up one game and think “right then let’s stop being a bunch of pussies and get behind the team properly”. The YD have instigated this and have dragged us along to a new level.

Did you get a reply?

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. That last ten minutes against Watford at home. Spine tingling. Although the last home game against Sunderland wasn’t exactly bad either

You think you had it bad, it took me 6 hours to get back up to Chester after that game! I even left early.
I just looked at Wigan’s lineup… they had Ivan Toney, Dan Burn, prime Will Grigg and Reece James on loan. Along with Chey Dunkley, who celebrated every goal and fair play to him.

Surprised it wasn’t 10-0. Holy balls
