General Atmosphere

I felt I should post here again after the Sheffield United game on Saturday. I've been particularly critical of the atmosphere at home this season, but that last 20 minutes was AWESOME! It just shows what can be achieved if we all get off our bums and make an effort!

Plenty of chants started in the North Stand and even the SSU getting involved! CB's admitted that our efforts helped get them over the line.

Well done Yellows, and keep it up tomorrow night!

Two guys have sat in front of me for about 5 years. Saturday was the first time I’ve ever seen them joining in the clapping and even singing.
It was a joy to behold finally! 🙂

Makes you wonder what it was about Saturday that made people like like that reach threshold and suddenly get stuck in, doesn't it?! There were people in our area (family stand) that suddenly piped up, too! As you say, a joy!

100%, more of the same tomorrow night, and right from the off through to the final whistle

And so did CW.

COYY'S

When the team plays with energy and commitment the crowd responds positively. When the crowd responds positively…..

(Am waiting for someone to say the crowd should respond positively first…..)
Ok I will say it.
We should respond first as fans.
We should respond first because long after the likes of Cambran and Rowett have left the club, we will be watching and praying for success with new players wearing that yellow shirt.
We are the custodians. The soul and life of the football club. And what it means to us in comparison to the players and board for eg. Is incomparable.
And we should respond first because in my opinion we have the power, above any one player, to win this game.
And finally we should respond out of pure passion and love for Oxford United. It’s really not a hard one to understand in my book.

*On a side note, a couple of fellas near me were up and jumping Saturday. I’ve not even heard them talk since I’ve been sat near them. They always glance at me because I have quite a loud voice but it was a great moment when we turned to each other and laughed in appreciation during that last section of the game. We were all making the same racket….brilliant stuff.

Love this. Long may it continue!

To me a really good support base, supports their team even when they are struggling.
I always remember us outplaying Newcastle in the League Cup at the Manor. I was struck by how their fans (2,500 who travelled down on a Tuesday night ) continued to cheer them on even when we were beating them ( we were a Division lower)

Felt absolutely electric for the most part tonight, albeit the wind was sucked out of sales a bit by their goal.

Also the first time I've heard 'my heart beats for you' sung by anything other than a few people under their breaths.
We sang it last Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday as well , atmosphere was good tonight something to build on for next season

Many of us were in the ground from 9am yesterday setting this up and putting in the work. Very pleased to see how well it went.

Atmosphere great again, not the result we wanted but we go again on Monday. Let’s get behind the lads 🐂
Well done to all of you.
The home atmosphere has improved so much.

Looks great. Hard to tell when you’re in the stand how it’s looking, but that looks class.

I’m stood right next to the drum so I know firsthand how much better the atmosphere is now.

Keep it up and do let us know if we can donate any more for future displays.

Thank you for your efforts. They are making a real difference and are greatly appreciated.

Might be too short of notice but would it be possible for one more display next week?

A couple of the big surfer flags, (ox head, joey flag & Jim smith flag).

Last home of the season v Sunderland

Have dug out the old songbook with some of the songs we had made for OU09 should we have reformed. They all required a drum because of how quickly our fans sing songs, so now that the YD lads have established themselves, I think they might actually work.

I reckon that there’s some of my best work in there, better than Browne or Whyte or Just like your fingers… we shall see
