General Around the leagues

Some of the details of West Ham's stadium deal have come out as it looks like West Ham are going down. BoJo's mega deal for London has a relegation clause that sees the rent fall to under £2.5million from £4.4million. Given the operating costs of the stadium, which includes things like stewarding being covered by the rent, it appears London taxpayers will be paying out a couple of million for the privilege of having the Hammers play.

Almost as good as his COVID contracts

Seems mental that it’s been 22 years since Arsenal last won it. Still, at this moment, a chance spurs could be relegated, as bad seasons go, seeing your biggest rival win a first title in 22 years and you having your first relegation in 50 plus years is as bad as it can get for a big club.

Arsenal win the EPL in possibly one of the boring title races imaginable.
I’m not sure it has been a boring title race given how far ahead Arsenal were.
You have to question the news about Pep leaving at the end of the season on the day before they play a massive game helped Man City tonight.

And for Spurs

Can’t say I fancied Man City after they played in a cup final Saturday to get a result tonight away at a Bournemouth who are flying. Felt like Arsenal won the league when they beat West Ham.

Least the focus will be on the more interesting relegation battle which looked over but after tonight with Spurs bottling what should have been a good chance to be safe.

Assume when you say 'bad' you mean 'funny'.

Honestly feels like a throwback to my childhood, when George Graham was in charge......1-0 to the Arsenal built around an outstanding back four and set piece excellence.

And nowt wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. Who needs all this mamby-pamby tika-taka rubbish when you can just lob it onto Alan Smith's head?

I think this years premiership has been one of the dullest on record.

May well get worse for them of Arsenal win the Champions league too!

It is good to see defence being important again.

Aston Villa win their first trophy for 30 years, Unai Emery wins his 5th Europa league.

Just need Arsenal and Palace to win and amusingly it will set off Javier Tebas (President of La Liga) crying about the PL again and their financial advantage.

It was never a problem when Real Madrid and Barcelona had a financial advantage though.

In twelve years, I think?

Not sure anyone could do that now. He won it three times in a row with Sevilla.....but back then if you were a bit rubbish in the Champions League, you got dropped into the second tier competition. Doesn't happen any more - now, once you get into the Champions League, you're stuck there (which is for the best, I think). You certainly couldn't win three in a row with the same club like he did!

Lost a final or two in that time as well. Doubt anyone will ever come near his record, partly because anyone with that record gets a bigger club who are in the champions league, but he doesn’t like managing elite players at the biggest clubs.

He's a quality manager who knows what works well for him, knows his limitations, and works well within them to succeed regularly. Always had a lot of time for the way he sets his teams out to play too.

West Ham drop into the championship with the highest points total of a relegated side for 15 years, Sunderland come from nowhere to get Europa league football the season after winning the play offs, can’t quite see Hull managing that.

Maybe Coventry might surprise us
