Yes, and the West Ham manager (Billy Bonds?) changed the agreement to he couldn't live Oxford immediately after the transfer and he had to move. Joey wasn't moving from Oxford so he had to leave, Swindon was closer and they obviously didn't mind. Yet is normal now for players to live over an hour away.

Latest from the website of the Adverrrrtoooizzzzer had our Alfie well down the pecking order to be signed by the Slum, still training with them but making himself unavailable for the big local derby at Supermarine, apparently to avoid the risk of the injury.

Absolutely! A good excuse to go and see City. Wembley was ten years ago and he’s maybe not had quite as good a career as he hoped, but he’s been a paid footballer all that time with lots of memories, so he’s a winner!

Must have been the best 1st game in many a year ....remember just how good that day out was ..train and beers in the sun...we going up...not quite but a fantastic game .
One of the best away days this was! Lots of good memories. Was it this game where they double sold a section of the stand and it was packed or was that another time?

It was indeed. I think it was an extra 500 more or so than it should have been. A bit of a squeeze!
Alfie was scintillating that day. He started quietly and then burst into life on 30 minutes and tore Pompey to pieces. It was a genuine 10/10 performance. Even Deane Smalley looked competent!
