Ex Player Alfie Potter

Beauchamp never wanted to go to West Ham but was told the club would fold if he didn't go. He never wanted to leave Oxford.

Beauchamp had every choice, he was at West Ham and had already saved the club.

Yes, and the West Ham manager (Billy Bonds?) changed the agreement to he couldn't live Oxford immediately after the transfer and he had to move. Joey wasn't moving from Oxford so he had to leave, Swindon was closer and they obviously didn't mind. Yet is normal now for players to live over an hour away.

Latest from the website of the Adverrrrtoooizzzzer had our Alfie well down the pecking order to be signed by the Slum, still training with them but making himself unavailable for the big local derby at Supermarine, apparently to avoid the risk of the injury.

May well not sign there after all.

Classy birds in Billericay according to the late, great Ian Dury

I have actually been on a night out in Billericay, for my sins. Didn't see any white high heels or Ford Escorts with names on the windscreen, unfortunately.

Almost certainly on more there than any League 2 gig he could get!

I wish Alfie Potter well there. However, I wish Billericay FC nothing but misery!

Course the other former yellow at Billericay is Sam Deering. Plenty of opportunities to recreate the magic -

Otherwise, they are the new Rushden/Crawley and will likely go the same way (peak in League One....owner gets bored....consolidate for a while in League Two....eventually drop back into non-league with massive debts and go bust).

One of the best away days this was! Lots of good memories. Was it this game where they double sold a section of the stand and it was packed or was that another time?

It was indeed. I think it was an extra 500 more or so than it should have been. A bit of a squeeze!

Alfie was scintillating that day. He started quietly and then burst into life on 30 minutes and tore Pompey to pieces. It was a genuine 10/10 performance. Even Deane Smalley looked competent!

Great to see Alfie helping City to the Conference - like he did for us v York City at Wembley back to Div 2 all those years ago !
pedant alert.... Alfie , with his goal at Wembley, took us from the conference ( back in) to EFL

that apart, I agree with the sentiments of your post @Greenstar
