On trial at Scumdon. Has impressed their manager to offer him a contract.
Not a great player.
However, until now, he rightly has cult status because of that goal. That cult status is about to become c**t status.

Football players have bills to pay. Its so so rare a player chooses not to go to a rival. Its why Beano should be held in the highest possible regard.
He had good game at Northampton, the midweek one, scored wind assisted/lucky goal from small angle. As usual, Wilder appreciated the performance of an opposing player and went on and signed him. They must be desperate.
As much as I loved his goal at Wembley. He wasn’t a league player imo. He had one good game in 100. His best game for us was at fratton Park. That’s about it.
Less important goal in the bigger picture but equally significant, 88th min winner v scum sept 2012 (as one of the 7 in a row!) .... footage misses the goal , but has the celebrations and the announcer proclaiming, Oxford Uniteds goal scorer , 88th minute , number 15 Alfie Potter ...a double legend IMO
Loved that goal. Two of the dopey buggers fell over and Beano nipped in to cross if for Alfie (if memory serves). Happy days.
His biggest problem i thought was making his mind up when it came to the final ball, shoot ,pass ,fallover

Some people do have a very strange way of looking at things ?
Enough talking out of your a**e. You obviously have no idea or perception of a good player. How many league games did he play in? If he was so bad, how come he managed to hold down a place in the team? Stop being so derogatory about a young man who gave a great deal to our club.Agree, really surprised me this thread. What a bunch of softies. Can you imagine if someone had gone from West Ham to Millwall or Swansea to Cardiff? Yet we want to wish him the best of luck!
Shocked to be honest.
Is joey tainted by what’s he did? Of course he is. Good job he made up for it by being a great player. Unlike Potter who was s**t except at Wembley and Fratton Park.
Some staggering comments here.
Alfie Potter is typical League 2 winger - good to great in patches but not consistent enough to make it much higher than that. If he had been exceptional then he would have been playing a lot higher but League 2 is and always will be his natural level. No shame in that at all and you can still enjoy a few memorable cup runs and the promotion pushes in your career.
To call him ‘s**t’ is fairly insulting. He managed 194 games and 28 goals for us. Plenty of players deserve the ‘shorn tag but Alfie Potter isn’t one them.
Potter was a fantastic player for us. To suggest he wasn’t is sheer madness. Even if he signs for Swindon I’ll remember him fondly. His performance against Pompey the first game of the season was outstanding.
