I think that’s because of the advanced position he’s usually being asked to play.Very good player, strangely playing the better teams suits his game more. Next step is for him to be slightly more dominant and controlled in the games we’re not sitting so deep in.
I dream of being able to sign him permanently. However, I believe he's already played first team football at Chelsea which I expect either means that they think he has a future there, or that he may think that if he is moving permanently that a lower table PL side or top of the table Championship side might be his best bets.Does he have a future at Chelsea or is he someone we can get permanently in the summer?
I would bite your arm off to sign him (not yours specifically......just a metaphorical random arm)I dream of being able to sign him permanently. I really like him as a player, and his mobility, athleticism, pace and tenacity is something we need to bring in to the middle of the midfield.

He has but literally one appearance for a couple of minutes 2 years ago in stoppage time when they were winning 2-0 so probably a tactical time wasting substitution.I dream of being able to sign him permanently. Maybe a possible signing for next season ( even if it's a season long loan).Another to have seemingly slipped under the radar from yesterday - thought he was excellent off the bench (in a game that was admittedly perfect for him - his coming on was as obvious as it was sensible).
I waxed lyrical about him post-Norwich, but I can't recall a player in our recent history with anywhere near his ability to both protect the ball so exquisitely and buy a foul so brilliantly (Mark Harris - watch and learn).
I also really admire his willingness and ability to get into advanced areas - he helped alleviate a lot of pressure yesterday by doing so.
A pragmatic signing for a (finally) pragmatic football team...
They were not fully fit I'd have said and we don't have a reasonable alternative really for both positionsIt is unbelievable that Matos didn’t get on the pitch tonight.
Vaulkes and Brannagan were dreadful. It was their worst performance as a pair, by a distance. Yet, Matos can’t get a go at any point.
I’d have had him over TG at half time, without doubt.

He may have to start Saturday.Alex Matos
He may have to start Saturday.
Before last night, many on here were suggesting that our midfield is far better with Vaulks, Cam in it
Matos has done reasonably well but to me he is less disciplined that the 2 who started.
Just because Matos may start in front of Brannaghan, I suspect, won't make us a better team.
I tell you if we could get this lad on a permanent this summer, we would be hard-pressed to do a better piece of business all window. His run down the right hand side was almost baffling, players bounced of him and it didn't seem to stifle him at all.
In the videos on Matos when he signed, it was his tenacity and intensity which I was most excited by.Put in an absolute shift today. His aggression and willingness to tackle is something we’ve really needed. Making a permanent move in the summer would be some fantastic business.
I can’t see him ever in a first team blue shirt, I’m not knocking the guy but how many home grown players do Chelsea have? They would rather spend north of 30 million in a player so I hope Ed Waldron is in discussion with Rowatt about him.In the videos on Matos when he signed, it was his tenacity and intensity which I was most excited by.
He’s exactly the sort of player we’ve needed for a number of years and I’d be delighted to keep him.
I don’t really understand this fixation with a no 10 in the modern game. Just play 4:3:3. Pack the midfield and any of the midfield 3 can have licence to get forward if the opportunity presents itself.Would love him to sign permanently. Would like the club to start taking some of these loans with possible future permanent options.
He is versatile, a ridiculous athlete and offers a physicality that we don’t possess. He’s a walk yellow card, but his combativeness is an asset.
I think Rowett has used him well. It would be tempting to put him as a holding midfielder and switch out Brannagan/vaulks, but playing him in the #10 prevents the opposition defence from settling and allows us to turn over the ball higher up the pitch.
Easy to forget he’s 20 and already has championship experience. Players of a similar type and age are rare. Would look to make it permanent asap assuming we stay up
