This will be an interesting game. If we weren't going to get a friendly at the Etihad, then Aldersh*t would have been my next choice. Friendly locals, outstanding facilities. Should be a good night.

On a footnote, anyone going in a minibus, and thinking of driving past the locals pub, tooting the horn, giving obscenities, before speeding off, as happened the last time we played them in a friendly, please consider those of us that had to pick up the pieces last time.
Many thanks.

I’ll be there as it’s local to me. Rather than try too many pubs in Aldershot and Farnborough, I would be inclined to try ones in Yateley and Eversley. Best ones around for a drink rather than food would be the Frog and Wicket in Eversley, also maybe the White Hart too, both on the main road. The Dog and Partridge in Yateley is owned by a friend of mine from Oxford and does really nice beer. Across the road you have the White Lion, just been refurbished and has a big car park.
The Ship in Main Road Farnborough is decent for beer too.
Once into Aldershot the quality of pubs diminishes.
Parking is easy as you can park in the ground or very close by

La Fontaine , close-ish to the away end, and The Lion on the main road in (from J4 M3) to Aldershot, before the Rec', are okish for pre match beers, though neither offer much in the way of food (unless things have changed very recently)

Used to take the Lotus (when I still had one) to the Frog & Wicket. Nice pub but quite a distance from Aldershit! Not me in the picture, by the way!

Despite being objectively awful I actually used to really like Aldershot as an away day, the Marvin Morgan game is still one of my favourites following Oxford, shame (kind of) I won't be able to make the game

Fantastic Lotus. I went to V Dubs in the park at Bracknell and saw a Scirocco Mk 1 much like I had when I when I was in my early twenties. What car do you have now ?

Ford Focus estate ??

Nice one. Not had a Focus but have had three Cortinas, eight Escorts, four Orions and three Fiestas. Also had the pleasure of driving 1.3 1.6 2.0 and 2.8 Capri...needless to say the 1.3 was just slightly gutless

Remind me, what happened in this Marvin Morgan game?

We played them just after Marvin Morgan, who played for them at the time said on Twitter he hoped all their fans died, so we spent 90 minutes singing 'Marvin Morgan, he wants you all dead', which at the time I thought was incredibly funny (I was only young, in fairness)

They also scored a late equaliser after we'd been ahead for most of the match, and their fans started giving us stick, having not made a sound for the first 80 minutes, then we scored again right at the end everyone just went mental, I accidentally knocked a coppers hat off his head in celebration/goading their fans, which he found quite funny, luckily enough

Just one of those away days that sticks out for me

What no Sierra?
Thought you would have had a Cosworth or two

Sadly, after 10 years of Lotus driving and following a rear end shunt, I had to admit that it was quite pleasant to have air-con and blue tooth and be able to listen to the radio so, bought a Z4. Bit like driving an armchair. Much better for my back though!

The Z4 is an interesting idea. Looking to retirement I have thought about buying a ten year old SLK but the Z4 could be an an interesting alternative.
The Sierra XR4i is a car I have driven long before my current job I drove on down the A33 at 131mph. It was a 2.0DOHC one, but pretty mean...the Cosworth was hard to park anywhere as it would probably be stolen within minutes

Used to drink in the same pub as an Aldershot fan and he was always anti Oxford and had chip on his shoulder!
